The Scraffts Make a Day Of It At The Seacoast Science Center

Hey Joey,
Just when I thought we had dragged our children to every possible day trip imaginable, we took off after hockey today and went to the Seacoast Science Center…just a couple of miles off the Portsmouth Circle. SOOO worth the short drive!!! My boys LOVE the Gloucester Maritime Center and, as members, we go there all summer long, but the Seacoast Science Center is a perfect compromise between our own “little red aquarium” (as my boys call it) and trekking to Boston to the NE Aquarium. While it is no Mystic Aquarium, it is a fantastic day trip!! During warmer weather they also have great trail hiking and tidal pool exploration because they are located in Odiorne Point State Park. I thought that some of your readers may want to check it out! http://www.seacoastsciencecenter.org/

Does Rubber Duck Want to be a Mommy?

I think I figured it out. This has happened dozens of times. I lose track of Rubber Duck for a minute and the next thing I know she is perched onto another  round shiny object.

Jamie at Stones Pub was describing how he was not really that sleep deprived even with one week old baby boy Cameron taking up some of his time lately and the next thing you know Rubber Duck has jumped off the bar.

So. Do you think Rubber Duck wants to be a mommy? I never got around to explaining the birds and the bees to RD and now I don’t know how to break it to her. Should I put out a call to Homie and get a nice seagull egg for Rubber Duck to sit on?

After giving the interview for the St. Joseph film project, Niño gave Felicia the lovely poster of St. Joseph for her altar. He also gave both Felicia and I each a salted and seasoned salmon. Niño travels to Alaska to work on salmon fishing boats. He suggested serving the salmon with fresh lemon, and I did, and it was delicious!! Thank you Canovva Family for your beautiful gifts and warm hospitality.

Same Love Marriage

This week the Supreme Court begins reviewing laws that ban same-sex marriage. Beautiful video by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, inspired by Macklemore’s two uncles.

Chelsea Berry shares news about her local show.

Hey, all!
This message is going out to all the Glosta folks… thank you  for all the support you have given me over the last 5 years, my music has made its way from barrooms and small festivals to coffeehouses and concert halls and theaters— most of them out of state! This is what I have worked for and I am so grateful that it’s finally happening.. but it also means less shows on the island. 😦
I’ve run into a number of people this last month who have asked what’s next for me around here — and it just so happens that this week’s show will be unique, fun, and totally different than a lot of shows you may have seen.
Dawn Mitschele is an INCREDIBLE singer/songwriter from San Diego. She and I will co-bill at Manchester-by-the-Sea’s Crowell Chapel.. it’s a gorgeous venue if you haven’t been there yet to see a show. The format is ‘writers in the round’, where the two of us will share the stage all evening, switching back and forth and telling the stories behind our songs.
Here’s  one of Dawn’s tunes…

Also, Manchester’s own Alexandra Valenti will kick the night off with an opening set.
The chapel only seats 120 people- and about half of the seats are gone, so please purchase your tickets now if you plan to attend! Tickets are $20, or you can purchase a whole pew for $120 (seats up to 7 people). http://event.attendstar.com/event/show/chelsea-berry-dawn-mitschele-songwriters-circle/
Show Details: THIS Wednesday, March 27th at 7pm at the Crowell Chapel (4 Rosedale Avenue in Manchester-by-the-Sea)
Hope to see you there. Thanks for your ongoing support… you rock!!!!  🙂

Love,
Chelsea

Aim High Snoop Maddie Mad

Parent Night At School Madeline shows us her Kindergarten painting depicting what she wants to be when she grows up.  A fashion designer in Paris.  Nice aspiration right there Madeline.  Much better than what she told us she wanted to be last year- a taxi driver or a hole puncher.  Imagine a career as a hole puncher.
