Dave Says,
Put your glands together and let’s welcome back that rockem’ sockem’ vixen of the blues: Ms. Diane Blue. She’ll be gracing our stage this week with enough heat to melt your mind! I love this woman! She really makes it happen! She’ll be singing’ all your favorite toons and blowing that category 5 harmonica till the clowns come home!
Backing her up and putting on a happy face will be that winsome wildcat of the 88’s: Mr. John Cameron, rapidly becoming my favorite ping partner. Thrashing the skins will be that Madhouse® rump-a-pum-pum  pummeler, Mr. roger Brocklebank. Gonna make him sing, too.
Of course, Mr. Greg T. and myself will be on hand, either cringing  or wiggling thru the changes. A great nite to go out!
p.s. I even heard that Mark Earley is gonna show up.

A fire escape on Center Street.  I stood there for a minute or two getting a few different shots, and as I walked away, a woman asked me what I was photographing.  I showed her the photos, and she agreed it was a nice subject… then said she was asking because it is her building! I bet she was worried that I might have some bad intent, maybe scoping the place out for a break-in or something.  Not to worry!

Tyler From Yankee Fleet’s Gloucester MA Fishing Report Filed 6/28/12

image

Tyler writes-

Good morning fisherman!!!
So here’s the latest scoop, the bluefish are in, the toothy blue assassins are flushing out the mackerel making them harder to find, which only makes the live mackerel more valuable for people trying to live line for stripers.

There are plenty of squid around as we had a mate fill a bucket while sittin on one of our docked vessels two nights ago. Calamari for dinner!!  Live lining squid like stated last week can be a very effective striper method if done at the proper time ( which is later at night with a moving tide).

It is absolutely the time to be slinging eels at night for stripers as the water temperature continues to rise, use a small live line hook, hooking the eel through the lower jaw and out an eye ball, it is important to get the eel in the water as quickly as possible as they will entangle themselves very quickly, it is also very important to hook through an eyeball that way the eel stays alive and presents a much better meal ( will present diagram below).

Flounder fishing continues to be good, with good fishing off of Niles beach. If you are new to the saltwater fishing scene come down and sign up for a harbor adventure tour! they run Friday and Saturday’s from 4:30 – 8:00 pm. These trips focus on stripers, mackerel, flounder and other inshore species. Let us do the driving and fish finding!

Hi Joey,

In the early spring, The Whale Center of New England announced it was closing its doors.  Since then, some people have stepped forward and taken over for resigning board members to keep it going.  To be honest, we’ve had a hard time letting the people know we’re operational again and could really use some help with volunteers.  If you could go to the Whale Center of New England’s facebook page and share the link that says we’re looking for volunteers, I would really appreciate it.  You are pretty much the go to guy for what’s around town and I’d be very grateful if you could help out.

Thanks again!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Rockport, Massachusetts — The Rockport Rotary Club has a new tradition, the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence.  This will be held in Dock Square, Rockport, at 10:00am on July 4th by the Rotary’s official 2012 Town Crier.

The town of Rockport is in its second year of a new tradition. The town has always been known for its’ impressive list of Fourth of July celebrations. Now there is an additional one to add to the Firemen’s Parade and bonfire. It will be a reading of the document that is considered to be the announcement of the birth of the United States of America; the Declaration of Independence. This document, detailing the colonies grievances with the King of England and his government and declaring these colonies now a free nation of United States, will be read to the assembled citizens of Rockport on July 4th, at 10:00 am in Dock Square. A number of those assembled will be in period costumes and will lead the cheers much like when the document was read to the residents of Sandy Bay Parish in 1776. Copies of the Declaration will be available for those who wish to read along.

The Rotary Club of Rockport is sponsoring this act of civic pride. It is hoped that by doing so, the true meaning of one of the most important American holidays can be fostered and preserved. Please join us for the second annual reading of the document that started it all.
