Looking for a Picnic

Ants are social insects of the family Formicidae and, along with the related wasps and bees, belong to the order Hymenoptera. Ants evolved from wasp-like ancestors in the mid-Cretaceous period between 110 and 130 million years ago and diversified after the rise of flowering plants. More than 12,500 out of an estimated total of 22,000 specieshave been classified. They are easily identified by their elbowed antennae and a distinctive node-like structure that forms a slender waist.

Watching the Sunset!

Pirates Lane-11

Deb, Jim and I went out for our usual Thursday Cupboard dinner, burgers and fish sandwich.  We wait all winter for the summer Thursday night event. After dinner we do the loop, down the boulevard over to GHB along the Backshore, then on to Niles for the sunset.  Tonight we turned left to Pirates Lane and watched this beautiful sunset.   What a painting mother nature gave us tonight.   We are truly blessed!

Cape Ann Adaptive Lacrosse – A HUGE SUCCESS!

Team Adaptive

What a successful season!

The CAYL Adaptive Lacrosse Program is the first of its kind in Massachusetts and is open to all communities.  It is designed to provide girls and boys with physical, learning and/or cognitive disabilities the chance to learn the game of lacrosse in an appropriate environment.  The program is open to participants ages 8-14.  This program offers a way for kids with physical and developmental disabilities to enjoy the sport in a non-competitive and adaptive environment.  Coaches and organizational participants will emphasize teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills development on an age and ability appropriate basis.

The program is structured to have middle and high school lacrosse players from local communities  teamed as a “buddy” or “mentor” for each adaptive participant. These buddy coaches assist in adapting the skills and teaching methods to the needs of each participant’s ability and specific requirements.   Equipment and rules are modified as necessary to meet participant’s needs while maintaining the overall fundamental lacrosse team experience.
