Peter Van Ness Writes-

Dear Joey,

The celebrate Gloucester feature length film is done.  You look great.  You sound great.  There’s a whole scene entitled "Good Afternoon Gloucester" featuring your inspiring speech on how lucky we are to live here!  It includes your famous "kiss my ass" line (with response from an one of the performers) and is destined to become one of the classic movie scenes of all time.

Rob Newton’s spectacularly comfortable Cape Ann Community Cinema is hosting a DVD Release Party Benefit on Thursday November 11 at 7:30pm.  This is a benefit for The Gloucester Fund and will feature the world premiere of Celebrate Gloucester, the Director’s Cut (not available on DVD), live performances by some of the stars, hors d’oeuvres complements of Lat 43, Alchemy and Jalapenos, wine & beer tasting.

Tickets are $20.  You can get them at Cape Ann Community Cinema (21 Main St Upstairs) or on line at www.CelebrateGloucester.com.  You can also get a special Release Party & DVD Package (on-line only) for $35.  It includes admission to the Release Party, plus a Limited Edition Two-DVD Set signed by performers at the Release Party.

First Look- Minglewood Tavern At Lat 43 Under Construction

Brian gave me a tour of the completely redesigned Minglewood Tavern (yes you heard the new name here first) at Latitude 43.

There are a ton of new features including the wood fired oven and new center bar being built out of recovered wood by the folks at Walker Creek.

State of the City Update

image
State of the City Update

In April 2008, Mayor Kirk presented the first comprehensive State of the City report on her 100th day in office, followed by updates in October 2008 and April 2009.

Many citizens requested periodic updates on the State of the City, and Mayor Kirk is pleased to announce the following schedule for 2010:

Wednesday, November 3, 6:30 pm, Lanesville Community Center

Monday, November 8, 6:30 pm, Kyrouz Auditorium, City Hall

Monday, November 15, 6:30 pm, Magnolia Library Center

After a short presentation on the State of the City, Mayor Kirk will host a question and answer session with residents.

Thursday night blues Jam with Dave Sags @ The Rhumb Line to host Orville Giddings.

10/28/2010

Thane of  Caudor Productions is proud to present the ineffable return of Mr. Orville Giddings to our stage this Thursday. A tough guy to catch, Mr. G. has just returned from Valhalla, where he has been immersing himself in a crash course in ebonics. Emperor of Ipswich, gootarist ne plus ultra, vocalist who can twirl his tonsils on his own steep lyrics, songster, writer and gin-terpreter of the great Armenian Songbook, And did I mention the biggest guffaw in Gloucester?? That’s him. We love this guy!
We’re callin’ in the heavy artillery in the form of Mr. Stev-ee Chagarris, drumbler along the Mohawk and sect cymbol. He’s familiar with O.G.: he won’t need the gym this week. Of course, Mr. Greg T. and myself will be there, too. A fine night to dance.
And, on Sunday,  I’ll be up at Glenn’s Cool Bar and Reststop over the bridge in Npbt. Imagine that. No-one from Glou. has ever shown up…and you don’t know what you’re missing. I’ll be plucking the big sticky bass to the groovy beat with the Justin Quinn Band. I’ve had J and the boys down here many times, and everybody just loves it. So, 6 to 9 Sunday, might be Halloween time there, mebbe I’ll wear my priest shirt with the white choler.Bring your own cross and garland of garlic.

This Friday @ The Rhumb Line ~ You will not want to miss Noe Socha

It will be a night of bluesy/jazz instrumentals and soulful blues.
The musicianship is incredible.

Noe Socha, 19yr. old blind guitarist, from Italy. Just started at Berklee this Fall. Very Unique playing style.

This is just a sample of what is going to happen. Along with the other musicians. Eric Reardon, Chris Noyes, Rory Walsh and Brian O’Conner. It appears to be one extraordinary night coming up.

Ever Wonder What The Guts Of An Espresso Machine Look Like?

Well wonder no more.

While eating breakfast at Sugar Mag’s the service guy was pulling the machine apart.  Of course your boy Joey whipped it out (the camera that is) and snapped a shot for you.

I guess there really is something to the high price tags on these machines.  There are some serious parts in there behind all the polish.
