We join the millions of US citizens donating time, money and effort to ease the suffering.
Local musicians and performers including Dan King and members of Safety, Henri Smith, Bradley Royds, Ian McColl, Dire Wolf, Dave Sag, Gary Shane, John Keegan, Renee and Joe, the Terrestrials, the Vipers, Willie Alexander, Bill Gleason, David Trooper, Lisa Landy, Uma, Tucker Lindquist, Deb Hardy, Jason Feinman, George Hall, Satch Kearans, Bonnie and Nancy, Rory O’Connell, Gordon Baird, Barbara Koen, Peter Van Ness, Will Hunt and many others offer an evening of song and performance in support of the international response.
All donations will be given to Doctors Without Borders the international medical relief organization that is one of the major presences on the ground on the island.
Suggested admission/donation is $10 additional donations will be welcome.

Sidewalk Days Music Schedule
Gloucester Sidewalk Days, hosted by the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce’s retail division, opens today and continues tomorrow and Saturday, with Main Street closed to vehicular traffic from Pleasant to Washington streets — and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — each day.
The Sidewalk Days festival has a new flavor, and a new name, but it essentially marks the continuation of the traditional Gloucester Sidewalk Bazaar, which marked its golden anniversary in 2008.
With the help of Blackburn Performing Arts, the Chamber has extended the live music program to two venues, one in the West End and the other near BankGloucester. To read full article, click here.

Due to this terrible recession and depression, the Mayor of Gloucester had a bright idea to cheer up the citizenry: She asked the Governor of Massachusetts to temporarily release Mr. O’Connor from the Funny Farm in order that Mr. O’Connor be able to perform his One Man Show of humor and stories about Ireland and Life. Mr. O’Connor is a direct descendant of The Last High King of Ireland, whose legacy left a dark mark in allowing the English into Ireland all because of a piece of *&^%$. Due to not having done a show in a long time [ever], Mr. O’Connor asked the Mayor if he could bring along a few of his mates from the Funny Farm in order that they may help him feel more confident and not so alone on stage. Mr. O’Connor’s friends, Paddy The Rat, Spud Murphy, Dick Reily and Marty Nolan, will be present among the audience (a mug shot of these lads is presently on display at the local police department). We feel it is important to have Mr. O’Connor’s friends here to help maintain a sense of order due to past experiences where civil disorder and rioting has broke out during Mr. O’Connor’s performances.
A word of warning: Mr. O’Connor has been known to have made a pact with the Devil so it’s important to say your confessions with your local priest as Mr. O’Connor has been known to corrupt the purest of minds that even Nick himself has been extremely mortified and will most likely be out of a job by the time this show is over. Past records indicate that the divorce rates have skyrocketed in town due to the women and men dancing naked down the street to the great Irish music. If you have a hard time locating the theatre, it will be easily be seen by Mr. O’Connors’ donkey and cart outside the entrance way of the theatre. Also in company with his donkey will be his donkey’s friend “Mc Ginty” the goat. One must be careful not to feed these creatures as they have been known to snap the fingers off people. Other than that they are charming to look at.

From Dave Sag on the Rhumb Line’s Thursday Night Blues Party–
This Thursday at the Rumline we proudly present Mr. Steve Sadler, raconteur and excellent glitarist and vocalizer. Y’all may remember him from the days of the BARKING SHARKS, local rockabilly-goats and rave-up x-spurts. Backing him up will be Jeff Casper, the friendly drummer, and, of course, Greg T. on catarrh and yours truly on first base.
And Saturday I’m proud to say that I’ll be playing at the First Church of Newbury right on Rt. 1a in Newbury, a short ride from town with an All star lineup of Justin Quinn on harp and vocals, Jon Ross on glitar, Curtis Haynes on keys and Per Hanson on drumps.This is a really good band, and we’ll be cranking out all our hits from Justin’s new CD. Start time is 8 pm. There is home cooking available.
Admission is 10 bux. Get outa town and boogie to the primal beat!

Prolz reunion Saturday and Sunday at Rhumb Line-
Members of the local music group The Prolz will re-unite for two hotly anticipated shows upstairs this weekend at The Rhumb Line on Gloucester’s Railroad Avenue.
The Prolz features Rockport’s Brian DeFort on electric guitar, Manchester’s Pete Kopelin on drums, Gloucester’s Vincent Briguglio on bass, and Dan King on electric guitar and vocals.
The band was an underground alternative rock band that put out one nationally released album and one independent release in the mid 1990s. Their first album, “Workers Meeting,” was distributed by Rotary Records and produced by Dan King. The indie release, “Instinct,” was produced by Tom Hambridge. Both albums are now available worldwide for digital download on iTunes, Amazon.com and Napster…. For more information, click here.
