In this complex, frightening time, each day we’re anxious scared, and tense.
We worry that our fears will hurt our health, and run in circles looking for relief.
There’s just no place to rest.
These five days are tailor-made for this.
Being silent is an act of kindness to yourself, and meditation is a place to rest.
But finding peace is not for you alone. Above all it can be a way to live.

I know some of you cyclocross fanatics are interested in the sport and all but the news that was most important to me was if the Beer would be flowing in the beer tent.
Well according to the Twitter Feed Of The GP of Gloucester- they have approval for beer and wine in the Beer Tent at The Brewers Gran Prix at Stage Fort Park

What is the Gran Prix of Gloucester?
What is Cyclocross?
What is the Verge New England Championship Cyclocross Series?
What is the North American Cyclocross Trophy (NACT)?
The Venue: Stage Fort Park
Take a dramatic harborfront park at the height of fall foliage season. Set up a twisting grass, dirt and asphalt racecourse with challenging obstacles. Unleash a crowd of world class cyclists to charge through the sharp curves and jump the barriers. Add screaming, cowbell ringing fans incited by a dynamic announcers. What do you have? One of the premier bicycle races in the country, right here in Gloucester.
The Gran Prix of Gloucester is two days of national calibre races where competitors from all over the US, Canada & Europe converge to race on the most beautiful race course in North America.
The most spectator-friendly form of bicycle racing, regardless of whether you’ve seen a bicycle race or not, cyclocross can be enjoyed by everyone.
Cyclocross (or just ‘cross to the throngs that race week in and week out) is a relatively new discipline of cycling in the US. Though it’s been around since the early 1900’s in Europe, it wasn’t until the 1970’s that cyclocross races started sprouting up in the US.
Often called the “steeplechase of bicycle racing” cyclocross races are fast-paced and are dramatic for spectators. Riders compete on a twisting course comprised of grass, asphalt and dirt. At several parts of the course, riders are forced to dismount their bikes and run up steep terrain or jump over obstacles.
To learn more about cyclocross, check out our Cyclocross 101 featuring video clips from the 2003 race.
The Verge New England Cyclocross Series is a six-race series of internationally sanctioned events where competitors from all over the US & Canada compete for points
The North American Cyclocross Trophy (NACT) created in 2008, is comprised of “the classic cyclocross races” of North America. Each race on the tour has a long history and represents the essence of the sport. Overall series prizes totaled over $7,000 in addition to daily prize totals making it the richest cyclocross series outside of Europe.
Overlooking historic Gloucester Harbor and bound on two sides by Cressey and Half Moon Beaches, Stage Fort Park offers picnic areas with barbecue pits, a full Visitor Information center, a playground for the kids, and plenty of parking!
For additonal information on Stage Fort Park, the Essex National Heritage Area website is an excellent resource.

Bill Rothchild contacted GMG through our contact tab at the top of the page. He asked about renting sailboats for his family. A few emails later and Bill showed his family a great time thanks to the warm hospitality of the SailGHS Program.
Bill Rothchild writes-
Hey Joe:
We just got home and wanted to express once again our gratitude to you for setting us up with SailGHS! We met Patty and Hillary at Solomon Landing and they ferried us out to the boats, where we boarded a Rhodes 19 captained by Will, one of the program participants.
We sailed out past 10 Pound, then had a few drops of rain. It was great to get out on the waters of Gloucester Harbor! We had a great time- the ladies even supplied some snacks for us. Judging by the pictures we are sending, I think Hillary, Patty and Tracy (Will’s mom) also had a good time.
We come to Gloucester every year. It made us feel very good to have an opportunity to give back to Gloucester by supporting the sailing program. Hope everyone likes the pix and the best of luck to SailGHS, an important link

Tonight: Samantha Farell: 8:00 pm
Sounds like a mix between Norah Jones and Corrine Bailey Rae. Samantha Farrell is a sparkling young singer-songwriter based out of Boston, who has been wowing critics and audiences alike, across the country with her unique mixture of jazz and folk-rock influenced pop. Described by national music magazine Relix as possessing “prodigious and undulating vocals that are delivered with rare, swinging passion,” and as a “soulful mix of Van Morrison’s country hospitality, Ella Fitzgerald’s jazzy range and Fiona Apple’s modern honesty,” Farrell has been touring the North east in support of her latest two efforts; Her full length album “Luminous” was produced by the late LeRoi Moore, a founding member and saxophone player for the Dave Matthews Band. “Luminous,” a completely independent release, sky rocketed to #7 on the national pop iTunes charts from it’s formidable grass roots support. Her music has been heard on major network television shows such as “Shark” (NBC), Privileged and One Tree Hill (CW). For more information, find her on the web atwww.samanthafarrell.com
Tomorrow: Tim Cannon: 9:00 pm

Adding his own flavor of expressive soul with an edge, he plays all of the instruments on his music from bass, drums, all guitars and vocals, unless of course otherwise noted.”I play a wide range of music, lots of styles and I have an expansive list of originals and coversongs to play in virtually any type of venue.Music is my passion and people can tell that I really love what I do.They enjoy being entertained just as enjoy to entertain.I love to walk into a room full of energy and take it higher.” Check Out more at www.timcannon.net

They will be rocking Harbor Loop as part of the Thursday Night Harbor Loop Concert Series tonight Thursday!
Hey Joey,
Glad I ran into you yesterday. So what should we do?
— I gotta get a GMG sticker in case Sam and I can snap a pic from the stage in front of the fans. Or maybe just backstage with Wolf!
–We’ll be at Harbor Loop today so any coverage would be great. We’re gonna run our Fenway set at the top of our second set tonight.
–I’ll be around on Friday in case you want to hook up before the show on Sat. We’re gigging a festival in Bethlehem, PA on Sunday and driving back Monday. Will be around Tuesday if you want to do some kind of wrap up or maybe I’ll have a souvenir or something.
I think that’s it. Next local gig on the books is the Rhumbline Oct. 9th though there’s a chance of Celebrate Gloucester over Labor Day weekend.
Here’s a link to the first announcement of our potential Fenway slot in the Globe and well, the rest is history…..

Don’t forget that the Farmer’s Market is happening today 3:30–6:30pm! The peaches have been amazing the last few weeks and you know they’re good when your two-year-old could care less about ice cream and throws fits for peaches. That’s what I’m saying! Juicy, dripping, delicious, better than ice cream fresh fruit. Isn’t it amazing that they just hang there on trees waiting to be picked by our favorite local farmers?
Join the Farmer’s Market and get yourself a neat little sticker like this and feel all squishy inside (like a peach) knowing that you’re supporting your local people:
