Cape Ann Amateur Radio Event

Hello to Good Morning Gloucester ,
My name is Dean Burgess and I am a member of the Cape Ann Amateur Radio Association here in Gloucester.I noticed you put a picture of me in one operating ham radio at our clubhouse of your daily blogs back last year.Our club is going to hold an outdoor amateur radio demonstration for the public and we would like to invite you to come by and take some pictures,video and write an artcile for your website if you wish.The event is called “Field Day” and it happens every year on the last weekend in June.It is where all the amateur radio operators go out an operate outside for 24 Hours straight.The purpose of this event is to promotre amateur radio to the public as well as an emergency communications exercise as we operate on generator power-we also give the public a chance to talk with someone across the world.I think that this would be something different that your website viewers would like to see.In this day of technology we would like to show the public that this is not your grandfathers radio anymore as we use computers to operate in digital modes and we talk to satellites.If you would like to see more you can go to our website at www.caara.net . This event starts at 2 PM on Saturday June 26th and runs 24 hrs until 2 PM the following sunday June 27th.I know that it is fiesta weekend but if it would be possible to fit into your schedule we would appreciate it.This event will be at the James Babson Cooperage Museum Field which is at the Gloucester/Rockport Line on RT 127. Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking? Jimmy T Update

Just got this from Jimmy T-

My apologies to everyone for not keeping the open communications I usually do. Work is crazy and may get worse. I’m sure your all aware of the Gulf Spill, this has already affected my office and could call for many more Seafood Inspectors any day.

Please refer to our website for upcoming events, sign ups for June eliminations are this Friday night!

As previously stated, I may get called away for work in the Gulf area any day so volunteers who can help with the International Races please contact Erik, Gina or any of the other Board of Governors.

Mr Harmon, can you meet me to tow the boats over to Niles Saturday?

Kelly can you give us a rough idea of Canadians coming down for the races? Gino wants to see if anyone can bring him down some Dory Knees.

Thinking of Cezanne, from Deb Clarke

Here’s a quick recap of my Memorial Day on East Main.  Here are 2 pics:  one is my reference material looking down on Joey’s docks across to the State Fish Pier with the city and western shore in the far distance, with a bit of green in the sky caused by the Canadian woodfires’ haze. I’ve been thinking alot about Cezanne and how he made plane changes in his paintings.  Cezanne wanted to create a painting with the solidity of a sculpture.  He didn’t rely on a directed light to illuminate objects; instead, he emphasized the form and organization of the picture plane through the direction of his stroke and color changes.  The light  seems to come from ‘within Cezanne’s paintings’.    In my work in progress I’ve paid particular attention to the way planes meet.  My space is getting a bit wonkie, and I am very interested in the spot that is in the very center of my painting.

Tarr and Wonson Copper Paint Factory – Restoration Begins

Mayor Carolyn Kirk  and Iain Kerr , break ground (Scraping Paint) on the Tarr and Wonson Copper Paint Factory the Future Home of Ocean Alliance. 

Ceremony was held June 1, 2010 on site.
