Alchemy Cafe and Bistro boasts a new Spring menu full of goodies and a redesigned interior with more big chairs and comfy corners. A beautiful and funky new metal sign on the corner should attract some attention. The menu offers yummy sharing tapas as well as pizza and delicious entrees. I love that they really try to source everything locally and care where their meat comes from and what it has eaten. I had to go here after Joey’s food map. There was a serious shortage of Alchemy photos – I had to be sure it got on that food map – and I did my duty. It was tough, boy, I tell you! I managed though…
Rob ordered the grass-fed burger and fries, which were heavily wife-taxed, and my sea bass managed to be eaten almost entirely by me as well. (Poor Rob.) Asparagus with poached egg tapas and a lavender creme caramel dessert made for a fine, rare date night indeed!

The Angel from the Sea a familiar sight on Main Street when you pass Art Haven has been retired. A contest is being held July 9th at Art Haven for a new logo.
David Brooks scrapped her off the window and I believe there was a tear in his eye during the last scrape; she has served Art Haven for the past 2 years.
Several people came by and did their part in helping David.
Amy Writes-
A-Train Orchestra is going to be playing on the deck of Amy’s Coffee & Cones this Saturday, June 19th from 4pm-8pm. They are a fun band and crowd pleaser…they perform jump blues, boogie and soul!!! The drummer is Gloucester’s very own Dave “Doc” Vincent, it’s sure to be a fabulous time! Also very exciting news about Amy’s, as of tomorrow I am serving hotdogs and what is so exciting about that is the special sauce from my family’s restaurant when i was growing up….customers can now get a “Max’s Dog”!!! Please stop by tomorrow and try one out….I’ll even get on video again to share the history of this special sauce!
USA came back from being down 2 nil to tie it up against Slovenia. Remy’s Bar and Grill goes wild!!! Then a hard fought goal goes through and they score to go up 3-2 with only a few minutes to play. But somehow the psycho referee hallucinates an off-side and pulls the goal back. The USA player in replay is so wrapped up by a Slovenia player it isn’t funny. And the Slovenia player is hugging him while his back is to the goal. No off-sides!
Still, a 2-2 tie against Slovenia is good stuff. Remy’s Bar and Grill right on Boylston Street behind Fenway Park. All the sliders are open on this beautiful day. The ten foot TV screens are crystal clear. A better view than the referee gets, that’s for sure. Tall icy Bloody Marys on a Friday morning is a good start to the weekend.
Just a heads-up – Scarlett (formerly Slingdaddy), with replacement singer
Megan Downey has been asked back to the Dogbar as the Megan McKenzie Band this Saturday, June 19th. I know it’s a little confusing (we will try to issue programs at the show so you can keep up) but we are also using Tod Ellyson on drums as our regular drummer is unavailable. It is also the first block party of the summer in Gloucester so Main Street will be
hopping. As a result, we are looking at an earlier start time (8:30pm to
close). So come on down.
Megan Downey, Frank Hawks, Jon Donlon and Tod Ellyson
The Dogbar is located at 65 Main St, Gloucester, MA
