Unfortunately, I am allergic to seafood, which saddens me, the Seaport Grille offers other options, I had the Arugula Fig Salad with prosciutto. It was amazing. I still miss having seafood, but the Seaport Grille never disappoints.
My View of Life on the Dock
The Beauport Princess, Cruiseport Gloucester, and the Seaport Grille were looking pretty dazzling the other night while I sat and watched Finn fish on the State Fish Pier.

I don’t think that there are many individual YMCA or towns that could pull this fundraiser off so well. They don’t have Rick Doucette and the rest of the great staff in Gloucester or such a ridiculous abundance of local foodie establishments and culture. Here’s a list of Gloucester, Cape Ann and North Shore great eats and drinks establishments that participated this year:
1606 Restaurant, Beauport Hotel, Gloucester; Azorean Restaurant, Gloucester; Cake Ann, Gloucester; Cape Ann Brewing Company, Gloucester; Cape Ann Foodie Tours, Gloucester; Captain Carlos, Gloucester; Classic Cooks Catering, Gloucester; Feather & Wedge, Rockport; Ipswich Ale Brewery; Italiano Restaurant & Bar, Gloucester; Jalapeno’s Mexican Restaurant, Gloucester; Latitude 43, Gloucester; Liquor Locker Gloucester; Mile Marker One Gloucester; Mojo coffee Beverly Cape Ann Farmers Market; Mom’s Kitchen Gloucester; Passports Restaurant Gloucester; Pigeon Cove Ferments; Pigeon Cove Tavern & Emerson Inn By the Sea, Rockport; Riverwalk Brewing Company, Newburyport; Ryan & Wood Distilleries, Gloucester; Sea Glass Restaurant @ Castle Manor Inn, Gloucester; Seaport Grille, Gloucester; Stones Pub & Eatery, Gloucester; Sugar Magnolias, Gloucester; Virgilio’s Italian Bakery, Gloucester
Dazzling fine food, desserts and drinks were at every turn. Feather & Wedge, 1606 Restaurant, Mile Marker One, Classic Cooks, Azorean, Sea Glass Restaurant, and Sugar Mags served winning main dishes. To die for desserts and specialty drinks were abundant. Virgilios cannolis were gone fast!
photos: Great fun taking snapshots at all the booths. (Apologies to Liquor Locker! The only photo that didn’t come out.)
Sounds of Taste of Cape Ann thanks to fine musicians were John Jerome on guitar and vocals, and Steve Jerome on drums. Cameron sat in as a back up drummer.
Platinum Sponsors: Institution for Savings and Cruiseport Gloucester
Presenting Sponsors: Beauport Financial Services, Robert Stewart PC, Tom Davis CPA
plus all the participating restaurants, hotels, specialty food and liquor businesses, and local business support for all those gift basket raffles

Before we dive into Northshore Magazine’s Fall Favorites September issue, let’s take a moment to acknowledge its Best of North Shore August issue. Although votes did not come in all Cape Ann for categories you thought might be a shoe-in: best beach, bakery, breakfast, burger, clam chowder, farmer’s market, art gallery, art anything (!), museum, or attraction — Gloucester and all of Cape Ann businesses receive a lot of deserved attention! Signing in to vote may be a barrier to entry for some. Still, 150,000+ votes were cast. You can check out what won in many additional categories in the 300pp monster issue.

There’s a big party goin’ on at the Seaport Grille.
It’s Scott Cook Night, celebrating the very first customer of that venerable institution. From 6 to 9 I’ll be slugging it out with David Brown, Mike O’Connell and Roger Brockelbank. It’s gonna be a blast. Afterwards we’ll be shifting our bods to The Glou. House to join with Madhouse to celebrate the life of Kay Ellis, of Lannon fame who passed last week.
Seriously! How can you pass this up? If you can get there! I’d recommend it!

There ended up being a few more of us than expected and the staff was amazing accommodating us!
When people have a great experience at restaurant very rarely do the managers receive good emails.
Why is it people always write about a bad experience.
I wrote a friendly note to the manager Lauren:

In case you didn’t know it’s Seaport Grille’s 6 year anniversary celebration! North Shore Acappella was performing last night and if you have not had the pleasure of hearing them one word: AMAZING! What an awesome experience for my son, 10, to hear an Acappella group for the first time! I wasn’t the only one dancing in my seat to the 50’s! When they started singing Rockin’ Robin and my son had never heard it I became sad. How could I have deprived my son of Rockin’ Robin for the past 10 years?!
Festivities continue tonight check it out!
I met a co-worker who has been gone on maternity leave this school year for a bite to eat and a couple of drinks last night at the Seaport Grille. As always, it did not disappoint.
We both started with a “West End” which tasted maybe even better than it looks…if that’s possible.
We shared some oysters that totally hit the spot! For dinner, she ordered the Scallop and Bacon Pizzetta and I had one of my all-time favorites….the Eggplant Panini with sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious!
While school vacation week is all about the kids…I am a huge fan of carving out some “me time” and a long talk at the bar with a good friend was exactly what I needed last night.
