My View of Life on the Dock
This just in from Heidi Dallin:
Gloucester Stage continues the 2013 season with Kenneth Lonergan’s This Is Our Youth from August 8 through August 25 in the air-conditioned comfort of Gloucester Stage Company at 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. Kenneth Lonergan’s funny, compassionate and powerful work is a living snapshot of the moment between adolescence and adulthood when many young people first go out into the world on their own, armed only with the ideas and techniques they developed as teenagers. In meticulous and hilarious detail, This Is Our Youth follows forty-eight turbulent hours in the lives of three very lost young souls in the big city in 1982 at the dawn of the Reagan Era. Lonergan examines the lives of three privileged teenagers in 1980’s Manhattan’s Upper West Side – when and where an abundance of worldly knowledge proves no substitute for familial affection. Directed by Lewis D. Wheeler, This Is Our Youth features the return of Jimi Stanton and Amanda Collins from 2012’s critically acclaimed 9 Circles, and the Gloucester Stage debut of Elliot Norton award winner Alex Pollock.
The performance schedule for This Is Our Youth is Thursday, August 8 through Saturday, August 10 at 8 pm; Wednesday, August 14 through Saturday, August 17 at 8 pm Wednesday, August 21 through Saturday, August 24 at 8 pm; Saturday matinees on August 10, August 17 and August 24 at 3 pm and Sunday performances on August 11, August 18 and August 25 at 4 pm. It was becoming a real cesspool over there. Glad the paper of record for GTown took steps to avoid the ugliness that came with anonymous online posting.
I’m sorry to have missed the Gloucester Street Bazaar, but I’m off having a grand old time with family in New York State. This is part 1 of a 2-part vacation, so I won’t be back with new Gloucester photos for a few days. In the meantime, here is a taste of a Hutchings’ (my mother’s side of the family) get-together!
Beautiful landscapes:

Going over vintage family photos:

And of course I’m doing origami, but I already posted some of those photos… and more will be showing up soon!
Hi Joey
The Amistad’s captain, Greg Bailey, was gracious enough to allow me onboard to take some photos.
2 of his crew, Whitney and Scott, were kind to give me a tour and some education. The Amistad is such a
gorgeous historical boat, in such a wonderfully historic port. She is absolutely a must see while she is visiting.
The Amistad is docked on the Harbor Loop at the Maritime Center, near the Ardelle. Here are a few photos.

When speaking to my boy Craig Kimberley night before last I told him that I was on my way to Cafe Bishco with Beasley and Amandacakes for some Froyo.
His response?
“What are you speaking, Hobbit?”
Then again in the comment section someone asked what “Froyo” meant.
In this day and age are here people that still don’t know the meaning of Froyo?

Hi Joey, Here’s a couple of picks of my little dog Greta ( long haired mini dachshund 8 lbs and 12 years old) I’m a local painting contractor who has decided to volunteer my painting skills to the Schooner Adventure. From time to time Greta comes with me to the Adventure. On this sunny hot day she sought out shelter from the sun in a space on the bow near to me while I painted. She enjoyed the view of the harbor out the hawser hole and fit in it standing up. I took these shots with my iPhone. I thought people would enjoy seeing the unique photos of Greta. In addition FYI the crew of the Amsted is helping the crew of the Adventure get her all rigged up. The sails will be up in a couple of days and will go for a Test sail this week possibly! The rigging is a big event. There is a guy named mike who has been volunteering for 14 years! He would be a good interview. Bill Holmes is in charge and a good contact for the goings on in the next few days of rare events of rigging a schooner.
Thanks best regards
Katherine Richmond
