The Basics of Estate Planning with Attorney Linda Goodenough

Your parents told you that they had EVERYTHING organized should something happen to them.  Only, when that day comes, you are unable to locate any of the legal documents.

Medical decisions for them are more difficult, as neither had a Health Care Proxy. Now, you want to make it easier for your children.  So what do you need?

Attorney Linda Goodenough will be speaking on the basic building blocks of any Estate Plan including a Durable Power of Attorney, a Health Care Proxy with Advanced Directives and a Will.

Ms. Goodenough has a degree in nursing, is a graduate of Northeastern Law School and a member of the Massachusetts Bar. For the past three years she has been a Judicial Designee reviewing Guardianship Reports,

and working directly with the Probate courts to deal with the daunting and emotional issues facing families. Linda is also a trained mediator with advanced training in Elder/Adult Family Mediation.

Hot Stuff Happening on Madfish Wharf – Summers Not Over Yet!

If you haven’t been to see Adriana “Gigi” Mederos at Aquatro Gallery, 77 Rocky Neck Ave., G6 on Madfish Wharf, you really need to check out the beautiful things in her gallery.  It is not too early to do some holiday shopping while the opportunity is still here on Rocky Neck.  Her Gallery is open daily through Columbus Day weekend.

Also don’t miss Last Day of Summer Tasting Event

In a bold move, chefs Jordan Rubin and John Sheehan take over the helm at the Madfish Grille in Gloucester, MA. The young and talented Rubin and Sheehan met while working at Clio and Uni in Boston under renown chef, Ken Oringer.
The ambitious and capable duo is transitioning into the fresh concept they envision at the Rocky Neck Art Colony location by revitalizing a menu that will take full advantage of Gloucester’s bountiful seafood and local produce.
The popular Sushi bar will continue to be the focus of chef Jordan Rubin, who brought chef Sang Hyun Lee on board this summer as the fans and demand for his sushi increased since its inception at the Madfish last year. In the kitchen, Sheehan takes an adventurous and modern approach to traditional New England fare. Expect to be deliciously surprised through the fall.

Lane’s Cove Watercolor By Jill Demeri To Benefit Lane’s Cove Fish Shack Restoration

Barb Jobe writes-

I have attached a picture of the painting by Jill Demeri .  It is a whimsical painting of Lanes Cove done in watercolor.   We had it priced at the silent auction starting at $1400.00, but we would settle for Best Offer.  The painting measures 48 1/2 inches by 5′ 5".  I hope we get some interest in this painting.  You can have people call me if they are interested at (978) 283-9311.  It would look great in a local restaurant.  Write it up any way you see fit.  Thank you for volunteering to post it on Good Morning Gloucester.

Artist on Art: Clarke on Fitz Henry Lane and William A. Ellwell

From Deb Clarke;

I repaired the box.  The glass is plexi, it is pitted, scratched with mildew stains.  the box lining is warped.  the posters continue to shrink.  the bottom was coming apart, i screwed it back together.  wiped off a crust of pollen and grime.  gave it a wash of slow set gilder’s oil.  gave it a speed dry with the hot sun.  laid down aluminum leaf.  burnished the leaf to an almost hard tack (t?); rubbed in non oxidizing gold dust, light sipe with a milky tacky brush.  laid down more aluminum leaf.  inscribed sharpie drawing.  i saw the silhouette of gloucester in the leaf, then signed it.  one more burnish. done.  the only audience?  a man taking a deep lumbering nap on the rise behind me.

best,  deb.                                               http://debbieclarke.blogspot.com/

update From Deb Clarke;

Hi there! when i got to work yesterday Ed Collard was talking with Fred Bodin.  I reminded Ed the ‘fix it’ man about the bottom falling out of that information box at the Gordon Thomas Park.  He had me remind him of what it was.  Anyway, when I walked home from work yesterday I noticed that it was fixed!  Awesome.
Oh, and the art work is of use to someone, as I saw a man stop at it (i was so excited, he’s going to look…or is he going to paint?  he had some bags with him, i was about to take a picture) nope…he was just using the pedestal as a place to balance the trash bag so that he could put a knot in the bag.  then he dumped his trash in Public waste bin.  oh, well.  Vincent Ferrini once wrote a letter to Gloucester “use your artists.”  i guess gloucester finally does. hahahah

The Camera I’ve Been Using This Past Year Just Got A Huge Discount On Amazon From $698 to $498. It’s What I Use To Take All Those Gloucester At Dawn Photos Like This One! Gloucester At Dawn Good Harbor Beach Life Guard Chair 6:34AM 9/15/12

My NEX-5N which you’ve witnessed this past year and what I attribute to a huge portion of the fun I’ve had taking photos.  it has a huge sensor in a compact form and I can’t recommend it enough. And for the price they slashed it down to it is an absolute NO BRAINER!

It was $698 and they cut $200 off on Amazon.  I’m telling you don’t even think, just buy it and you’ll be psyched you did.  I’m getting one for the Mrs. as soon as I finish typing this.  I haven’t seen this deal any where else so I don’t know how many are available at that price but if it’s still there grab one with the kit lens.  You’ll be happy you did.

Here are some of the sets I’ve taken with mine click for photos

September 2012 Block Party From Fred Bodin

image

It was really crowded all night long on Main Street, as usual for a Block Party.

image

So many people came into my gallery that I lost count, perhaps between 100 to 150 folks. On the lower right is a display of free samples of hand-made Gloucester soaps. We sell them here, and there are a few left. All natural ingredients. The soaps have unique and interesting names, and my favorite is Dirty Clammer.

image

I got to escape from the gallery for a few minutes, and went to the POP Galley, my wonderful friends and neighbors. [real reason – we ran out of wine, so I had to beg for some, and POP obliged with a bottle of bubbly]. It was a thirsty, fun-loving, and interesting crowd. My bad news is that it’s almost midnight and I’ll be opening early tomorrow for the cruise ship Eurodam,  arriving in the morning, and to clean up the party debris. But I do love it!  Sadly, the next planned event for Downtown is for Ladies’ Night in early December (two and a half months away), and after December, nothing from January 1st until Fiesta, in late June (that’s almost six months!). Give me a break! We should have something like a Block Party every month of the year. The West End shops will make that happen.
