We invite you to help us select the finalists! Vote once a day, now through March 15, 2012, at 3 PM EST, for the students whose essay you think deserves to be a finalist for the Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship.

The ten students from each of the 6 New England state (MA, VT, ME, NH, RI, CT) who receive the most votes will be selected as finalists. The finalists will be interviewed by a panel of judges and three students from each state will be selected as winners. The winners will be honored at an awards ceremony and entered into the Hood Sportmanship Scholarship Hall of Fame.

The concerts are supported in part by grants from the Gloucester, Essex, and Ipswich Cultural Councils , local agencies which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

You may remember that the Chorus started in Rockport  in 1931 as the Community Carol Choir.  Then in 1932 it became the Rockport Community Chorus, a name it retained until 1983 when it became the Rockport Community Chorus of the North Shore to better reflect that its membership came from the greater north shore area, and then in 1995 it became Chorus North Shore and started having rehearsals in Ipswich as that location was more centrally located for its members.

Yesterday was such a glorious day.  We had a very low tide, so I was able to walk from Cambridge Beach to Lighthouse Beach along the shoreline and see things from a perspective I hadn’t seen before.  People were kayaking, walking to the end of the sandbar and sand dollars were exposed along the water’s edge.  All that after a wonderful morning of cameraderie and sharing at Mug Up.  As Joey would say: “This doesn’t suck”.
