Thirty-five Harborlight Montessori 4th-8th Grade students have taken up residency at Gloucester Stage Company for two weeks. As one of Harborlight’s new Experience Week programs, this group of students has been learning all aspects of theater production in preparation for their World Premiere performances of The Golden Goose Awards. The Golden Goose Awards was written by Harborlight’s very own Performing Arts Director and published playwright, Katie Oberlander. The collaboration between the staff at Gloucester Stage and the staff of Harborlight Montessori has come to life with this fantastic Theater Education experience. Tickets to the 3/22 and 3/23 performances are available for purchase on Gloucester Stage Company’s website.

Monarch Butterflies Nectaring at Smooth Aster
I will be presenting the necessary elements to help you create a beautiful and welcoming haven for butterflies. Once you begin to think about your garden as food source and shelter, it will influence all your horticultural decisions. Native and well-behaved non-native plants, along with examples of architectural features, will be discussed based on their value to attracting specific butterflies. This lecture and slide presentation will help you gain a deeper understanding of the interconnected world that we human beings share with plants and butterflies and how to translate that information to your own garden. Butterfly gardening plant list included with workshop.
From wiki: The Floralia, also known as the Florifertum, was an ancient Roman Festival dedicated to Flora the goddess of flowers and vegetation. It was held on the IV Calends of May, April 27 to May 3, and symbolized the renewal of the cycle of life, marked with dancing, drinking, and flowers. While flowers decked the temples, Roman citizens wore colorful clothing instead of the usual white, and offerings were made of milk and honey to Flora.

I am the Gloucester Conservation Agent (I’ve been here for a year–is that still considered new?). The Gloucester Conservation Commission is hosting a "Living in Dunes" workshop at City Hall on September 29 at 7pm. I have attached the poster, but was hoping maybe you could help us get the word out through Good Morning Gloucester.
It is geared toward helping those who live in the Wingaersheek Rd/Coffins beach area and the Gloucester end of Long Beach and are thinking to build, add on,, create a driveway,upgrade their septic, etc… This is free and will help them understand what it means to be in a dune.
We have a great set of experts speaking–a coastal geologist, a land use attorney and an environmental scientist. They are listed on the flier.
Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!!!

From Deb Clarke;
I’m looking at this loft space in Gloucester MA to open the Debbie Clarke “School for Drawing” and studios. There are 2 private studios that will be available for short term/long term rental and teaching space available to artists to rent for workshops, etc. I would like to move in June 1st. So, if you are looking for short term or long term studio space, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss your needs. This is a second floor space with west light. The windows work, so there is ventilation. I am an oil painter and am looking for other painters, teachers. email to me at email@example.com
