BREAKING NEWS: Guess you’re not screwed after all

A couple of weeks ago we warned you (in this post) about waiting until the last minute to get tickets to Chelsea Berry’s triumphant return to Shalin Liu with her new band, performing songs from her new CD.

Well, Chelsea decided to give all you procrastinators a second chance by offering a second show on Friday, February 8 at 8pm (the Saturday, Feb 9 show is sold out) and remember, you heard it here on GMG first!  The Dejas will open this show with their 4 piece band just like the Saturday show.

Now, don’t screw this up and think you can just sit there and procrastinate some more.  This show was just announced so there are still good seats left (clicks on this link to get some).  But they won’t last long.

Just in case you missed Chelsea opening for Chris Isaak at North Shore Music Theatre with her band last June, here’s a taste of what you can expect next month in a much more intimate setting:

Don’t let today’s snow (which is now melting) dampen your entertainment for the evening.  There are excellent live music choices tonight.  See the complete lineup here.

Art at Addison Gilbert Hospital

William Grillo has a show of beautiful paintings in the lobby at Addison Gilbert hospital!

Here’s a closeup detail of one of them:

Pet of the Week-Duke

pet of the week, cat, kitty

My name is Duke!    I actually came to the shelter by mistake.  I was an outdoor barn cat and was mistaken for a stray.   It was decided because of my ear that I should become an indoor cat.   I have a unique ear that they call a cauliflower ear.  The condition was caused by an ear infection that has now cleared up.   I am a friendly guy who likes people better than horses, and now I am looking for a nice warm home and family to love me.   I will need to have my ear checked to keep me in top notch shape.   If you would like to meet me, please stop by the Cape Ann Animal Aid located at the

Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter in Gloucester.

I hear everyone talking about the Winter Ball on February 9 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Cruiseport Gloucester, Six Row Square, Gloucester.   Check our website at CapeAnnAnimalAid.com for details!

I won’t be at the Winter Ball, I am looking forward to becoming a couch potato!

DRIVEN, the new show at Flatrocks Gallery, focuses on the obsessive aspect of the creative process – the urge to work and rework an idea or an image until its possibilities have been exhausted. In the new works of Jon Sarkin (mixed media), Paul Cary Goldberg (photographs) and Ken Riaf (assemblage) we see three artists responding with grace and wit to a fixation.

Please join us for an artists’ reception on January 19th 6-8pm.

DRIVEN will be on view through February 24th.  Open Thurs-Sun 12-5pm and by apt. 978-879-4683
