Oh, Please!

Oh, Please!

Boiled dinner?!

REALLY?

A Potato, Cabbage, carrots and some kind of Mystery meat?

Throw it in some water and boil all the taste out of those ingredients?

What kind of Celebration meal is that?

THANK GOD I’M DESCENDED FROM SICILIANS!

YUCK!

JUST MY OPINION.

  1. Just like a “LOBSTER BOIL” vs a BAKE!!!! No true NEW ENGLANDER would ever throw lobster, cobbed corn, clams and whatever other into the same pot and boil. I want my Lobster Baked over seaweed!!!! or at the very least =boiled separately!!!

Do like the New England boiled dinner with true “corned” beef (Brown salted in brine) not the Chemically enhanced Red. Either way, “to each his own”

    1. I think Paul knows I’m just having alittle fun trying to stir things up a bit. But there will be a gassy haze over Gloucester 4 or 5 days for sure!

  2. Irish soda bread? I Don’t think i’ve ever had it. I love bread. would love to try it someday. St JOE’S pasta I’ve had. Never liked it. but i do like the the homemade pasta that my wife Cathys Grandma made. she always had homemde zugu with her tomatoes she grew in her garden at 18 addison st. The best I ever had.
Swimdad there was no gas from that. 😉

  3. I agree Paul. A boiled dinner can taste ok, but it is the most unappetizing looking thing. Even Joey’s photo of Jill’s corned beef and cabbage that he rated a 7, just didn’t look appealing at all. Try Irish soda bread, it is really pretty good. They usually have it at Market Basket this time of year.

  4. OK Enough about CB and C and St Josephs Pasta. Let’s talk about some real Gloucester Soul Food: Ocean Catfish Livers, Haddock Spawn, Codfish Tongues and Cheeks, Baby Squid and by baby I mean only a 1/2″ long or less with no eyes and beaks and my favorite Codfish Tripe.
