Andrews Point today ready for Surfin’?

A lone surfer with board was looking at it but sense prevailed. At low tide there was no way to get into the water without having your brains bashed out by Cape Ann granite.

Also included are some shots of some cute plump birds dabbling in the rocks. Same ones we saw at the end of Dogbar Breakwater last week. They are amazing little flyers in formation.

  1. The photos reside in Google Plus. Until all of you see the light, eat the blue pill, inhale, the photos may not post properly.

Look into the light. Oh wait, is that a dodgeball speeding towards me?

  2. I think the birds are purple sandpipers. I’ve seen flocks of them at the Dog Bar Breakwater. They’re adorable.

    1. Score! I just looked up the description and images and they are definitely purple sandpipers. “Portly” and “stout” in the descriptions. I would have called them “chubby”. They had a sandpiper beak but I didn’t know sandpipers hung out on rocks but these do. They are acting just like them picking away at the rocks instead of sand. Thanks for the name.

There is a flock of them right now in the last 50 feet of the breakwater before the beacon.. Down on the edge of the water on the inside, they will take off and do acrobatic synchronized flying if you get within 20 feet of them. I was surprised they were on the opposite end of the cape.
