Local Star Chelsea Berry on Curtain Up Tomorrow (SUN) @ 9am 104.9FM
Following her trend of interviewing local and national rock stars, Aurelia Nelson is hosting Chelsea Berry on her “Curtain Up” show tomorrow (Sunday) at 9am on North Shore 104.9FM.
Chelsea is back from a her national tour and will be performing Friday (7/25) at Cape Ann Marina’s Waterfront Pavilion (the BIG tent). There are still seats available and you can get tickets here.
We know we live in a very special music community when someone who made her name in Gloucester comes back from a national tour and remembers where she got her start by appearing on local radio and performing in local venues.
Aren’t you glad you live here?
Just in case you don’t know who Chelsea Berry is, check out this video of her at Shalin Liu:

This photo is of “Infundibulum”, a local granite abstract sculpture I carved in 2012. Its value is in the $2,000 to $3,000 range, but I like it very much, so I keep it overpriced when it is shown. This sculpture is yours if you can meet this challenge….
I would like to see a single scientific study, without glaring bias or irregularities, which concludes both the safety (for human consumption) and effectiveness (in dental cavity reduction) of fluoridated drinking water. The study must be double-blind, placebo controlled and peer reviewed, and covering a study with a duration of over 5 years.
I have searched several months now for a study like this, and have failed to find a single one. It is important to me, so if you find one which meets the criteria, Infundibulum is yours with no strings attached.”

Magnolia Historical Society Fundraiser Paint Party, Part II- Tuesday, July 22nd
The Magnolia Historical Society (MHS) serves as a place to collect, store, educate, show, share and preserve memorable items from Magnolia’s heyday, and to document the present, here and now, for future generations. The first date was so popular, we’ve added a 2nd date! Please join us for a special creative fundraising event and a night of painting and sipping to raise money for the Magnolia Historical Society! You will recreate our artistic rendition of the “Magnolia Pier” with the step-by-step guidance from our instructor. We provide the supplies – paints, apron, brushes and a 16×20 canvas – you make the masterpiece. This is an instructor-led painting class – part technique, part fun – no experience required! $20 for every seat sold goes directly to help fund MHS and its many programs! Our doors open at 6:00pm, class starts promptly at 6:30pm. Food and refreshments are included in the price! Advanced registration is required as seats are limited.

Banksy quote of the week from Greg Bover
“A lot of parents will do anything for their kids, except let them be themselves.”
Banksy (1974?- )
An English graffiti artist, film maker and painter, Banksy’s birth name has never been revealed, although he is said by some to have been from a middle-class background in Bristol. He first gained public notice in the early nineties for his ironic, existentialist, and darkly humorous street art that has a liberal and anti-capitalist viewpoint. Much of his wall art is stencil based and shows a strong influence from the earlier work of French artist Blek le Rat. Often labeled vandalism by the powers that be, his preserved work, sometimes an entire wall, can sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars. His first film, Exit Through the Gift Shop, won documentary awards at several festivals and was nominated for an Academy Award.
