The Rocky Neck Art Colony Welcomes Spring With The Best Of Rocky Neck Exhibition
Artist members celebrate their diversity and community with a comprehensive and color-full exhibition.

March 13, 2013 – Gloucester MA – This spring, the Best of Rocky Neck exhibition celebrates the diversity of styles, media and techniques, and sense of community of the artist members of the Rocky Neck Art Colony. The comprehensive and color-full exhibit features one piece of current artwork from each of the participating members. The Best of Rocky Neck exhibition will run from April 4–28, 2013 and gallery hours are Thursdays – Sundays, 12–4 PM. Join us for the reception and meet the artists on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 4–6 PM at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck, 6 Wonson Street, Gloucester MA 01930.

This April, the Best of Rocky Neck exhibition takes over both gallery levels of the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck much like the successful Winter Show a few months ago. This year’s spring members exhibition is sure to take its place alongside the many successful shows that have opened at the Cultural Center since last summer, and will certainly become a fixture on the Cultural Center’s year-round schedule of events.

The RNAC Cultural Center Gallery is located at 6 Wonson Street, Rocky Neck, Gloucester and is open Thursday through Sunday, 12 to 4 PM. Please find the RNAC calendar at www.rockyneckartcolony.org

NSSPI Realizes we live in a world where young athletes are expected to do more of the same to get better. Play more soccer to become a better soccer player. Play more hockey to become a better hockey player. The list goes on. Unfortunately, if continue to do more sport specific training using incorrect movement patterns, we are simply creating bodies that are imbalanced and set up for injuries down the road. Instead, we need to be creating better athletes whose movement patterns lead to stronger runners, jumpers, swimmers and skaters, etc. In essence, we need to build stronger athletes whose athletic abilities can easily adapt to the demands of many sports, therefore increasing the longevity and strength of the athlete across many modalities.
NSSPI has designed a strength and conditioning program for athletes (Ages 10-17) seeking excellence at the next level of performance! Each session focuses on mastering key athletic movement patterns which will support the development of strength, power, speed and flexibility.  They will work on mobility, flexibility, strength and conditioning.  These athletes will decrease their risk for injury and build strength and confidence to meet the demands of their specific sport.

We have another note we wanted to pass along to the GMG community – about some plans for this weekend that’ll help take our minds off the winter storms.

One of those nasty winter blizzards forced the cancelation of our Soup-er Bowl earlier this year…but we’ve made the most of it and combined this with St Patrick’s Day.  We think this will be even more fun — this coming Saturday, March 16, we’re holding a St. Patrick’s Day Soup-er Bowl.  We’re still offering a 25% discount for those guests who bring some soup — and our judges will choose a winner, with the Soup-er Bowl champ getting a gift certificate for a free return visit (folks can even come and stay a night or two and just taste the soup). And because we’re celebrating St Patrick’s Day, there will be some Cape Ann Brewery beer on hand, along with other holiday treats.  The Shutters has a St. Patrick’s Day tradition to uphold.  Here’s a photo from last year – and a Soup-er Bowl reminder from our St Paddy’s Day hostess.image004
