Joey C Public Service Announcement To People Who Walk or Bike Outdoors At Night:

image

There is less light in the fall.  Duh Obvi, right?  The daylight is short and I’d just like to highlight a point that people with perfect vision may not realize-

If you are walking at night or riding a bike at night there are a shit-ton of people who can’t see you in the dark.

They don’t want to run your ass over so please wear light colored clothing or even better- wear clothing with some type of reflective properties in it.

As I get older I notice it’s tougher and tougher to see these people and they just sort of jump out at you when you are almost on top of them when driving at night if they are wearing dark clothing.

No one wants to run someone over, it makes for a sucky day.  So keep it in mind next time you’re heading out for a healthy stroll or bike ride at night time.

Thank You.

Joey C

1939 Aerial Photo—Magnolia From George Krewson

Hi Joey,

Thought the aerial picture attached of a portion of Magnolia might be of interest.  It was taken from a seaplane owned by La Touraine Coffee

that would visit the area during the summer, landing in Gloucester Harbor and taking people up to have a view of the area.  Dad asked to have a picture taken of the Oceanside.  Note the North Shore Inn to the left, which accommodated summer visitors who weren’t able to secure rooms at the Oceanside.

More Snapshots from Savour Wine and Cheese Grand Opening

See yesterday’s GMG post for the full story

GMG’s Father Green, a happy customer! Doesn’t he look Parisian, with beret, camera, and wine in hand?

Last night was the grand opening of Savour Wine and Cheese at their new location, 76 Prospect Street (the old Connors drugstore). A wonderful array of wine and beer was served; the wine was dispensed from state of the art “buy before you try” machines, and the appetizers and select cheeses, beyond divine.

Some of the talented people who made last night’s opening a great success

Congrats To Brittany Collens Manchester Athletic Club Tennis Phenom For Getting A Scholarship To New Mexico State

The Gloucester Daily Times Conor Walsh Had The Story Yesterday-

ME tennis star Collens commits to New Mexico St. University

By Conor Walsh Correspondent

Brittany Collens earned it, there’s no denying that.

After deciding to focus much of her adolescence to tennis, the senior at Manchester Essex went all in, leaving the Hornets’ program after her freshman year to devote endless hours to her training at the Manchester Athletic Club.

I’m a huge fan of The Manchester Athletic Club and grew up playing tennis there.

The program now compared to when I was there has taken off to a whole new level pumping out tennis scholarship athletes yearly.

Origami Santa and his Rainbow Reindeer

One uncut sheet of paper each.  The reindeer is folded from a design by Peter Engel, and the Santa is designed by Steven Casey.   I folded them to be among the items raffled and sold at the Holy Family Parish Christmas Fair, to be held this Saturday, Nov. 17, 9am-2pm.

Here’s a closeup of some of the reindeer:

They took me about an hour each to fold.

Gloucester Based Ad Agency Bait and Tackle Has Entered A Couple Of Commercials Into The Superbowl Doritos Contest

Check ‘Em Out and Give Them As Many Stars As Possible!

Chad Carlberg writes-

We made a couple of commercials for the Doritos Crash the Superbowl contest. GRANDMA starring Taylor Fitzgerald. Lucked out and got her with waivers from SAG and AFTRA. Actually, like the star of PURITANS, Taylor’s my neighbor. She has no acting experience! Missed her calling.

GRANDMA IS HERE: http://apps.facebook.com/crashthesuperbowl?page=watch&video=2699

PURITANS is currently ranked 6th in overall ratings. Good. Keep it up. Rate on, friends! Stars Erin Streeter, my OTHER neighbor. Unlike Taylor Erin has acted quite a bit, though not since the 8th grade play. But as a hungover tour guide for Syracuse as a student, she was well suited for the part. Mark Stevick and I wrote and directed this one together.
