Marty Goes Lobstering With Jim Waddell

Since settling here in 2010, I’ve wanted to learn the ins and outs of lobstering. To get me started, Jim Waddell of Rockport took me aboard Dolphin II out of Pigeon Cove as he tended his pots in Sandy Bay. It was a marvelous morning; I learned a lot and ate very well.

My thanks to Jim for his warm hospitality.

Good Morning Joey~

Just thought that I would share with you readers our new friend…she shows up in our swimming pool at least 3 times a day…She is seen here with her friend who recently has had some "plastic surgery" if you know what I mean…………Seriously though, she splashed down last night even with 8 people on the deck having dinner….We’ve named her "Rudder."

Cogswell Farm Landing Rocky shore accessed by public footpath. Limited street parking.

From The Rockport Open Space Report 2009-2014

Access to the ocean south of the center of Rockport is available along a chain of beaches, coves, and rocky ledges. Public footpaths lead in from the road to Emerson Point, Flat Rock Point, Steep Bank Landing, and Cogswell Farm Landing. There is limited parking at Long Beach, Cape Hedge Beach, Pebble Beach, and Loblolly Cove, but all these areas attract walkers as well as large numbers of swimmers, divers, surfers,  fishermen, bird watchers, and picnickers year-round.

Couldn’t Have Been a More Perfect Night & Better Company on Our Rum and Stogie Cruise Aboard The Thomas Lannon Last Night

I didn’t take too many pictures because I was having such a great time last night but I’m sure we will be getting some photos from our friends that were aboard.

Huge thanks to Paul Giacalone of the Old Cuban Cigar Co, Bobby Ryan at Ryan and Wood for the fantastic rum tastings and of course our hosts The Ellis Family and the Thomas Lannon.

If everyone else had half as much fun as I did I’d say it was a wildly successful event.

If any of you guys wants to send your pictures I’d love to post them.

Shooting My Universe

Did You Know? (Leftovers)

That there were actually leftovers from this Sunday’s Mug Up?  Not because there wasn’t a good turnout, or the food wasn’t great (Paul’s smoked bluefish pate is really awesome, my deviled eggs aren’t half bad, and the blueberry coffeecake was delish), but because Ed Collard was among the missing.  The comfy chair at the head of the table sat empty, and we really missed not having him and his healthy appetite there.  He and his wife were stylin on a brunch cruise around Boston Harbor on the Odessa – a Father’s Day gift from his kids.  Some old favorites and some new people came by.  Pete Chamberlain arrived by water, now that he’s gotten his boat fixed.  Artist, Dixie Clark and her grandson, Tyler joined us.  She lives on a boat here in the summer and Tyler was visiting her and really enjoying hanging with cool grams at the marina.  Lou was passing by on her bicycle, and we lured her in for some Rocky Neck hospitality.  Ben MacAdam, who is exhibiting his paintings at the Madfish Gallery, G5 stopped in with his friend.  The Lusters were in the house, and Marty had a brand new very cool looking camera he was trying out for the first time.  And of course Paul Morrison was there, without R. Duck – I think she was home with the chicks.  Next Mug Up will be Sunday, July 17, 10:00 am.  Hopefully Ed will be back, and maybe Joey and Paulie Walnuts can free themselves up and come over for a little Cup-A-Jo and visit too.  I’m told that I make very good coffee.
