Gloucester and Rockport 50’s, 60’s Photo Series From Mark Holzman Part III Updated Update

East Gloucester- Click the picture to enlarge it.  I’d appreciate anyone to fill in the details of the exact location and what they see in the pictures from this series.  There are 15 pictures in 15 days.

What I know of this picture is again the slide is in backwards because when you click on it to view it full size you see the numbers on the white boat are backward.  I believe it says

W 04

Hi Joey, I couldn’t resist trying to bring this shot back to life.
The ship really is the W 40.

    1. Yes sir – that’s what I was going to say! Obviously they haven’t played reading things in a mirror in their childhood 🙂

  1. My guess is it’s just past Beacon Marine. The area behind where there are wooden fish and bags made of sail cloth. I believe the grey building in the center is gone now. I’m looking at the ledge on the left as a reference point. At first the gas station sign made me think it might be Brown’s yacht yard.

  2. This is the General Greene and its W140. The picture wastakensometime after 1960 when the round portholes on the bridge were changed to square, I served aboard in 60 and 61 when the Greene was wrecked off the Cape Cod Canal
