Hi Joey:
We live across the harbor from Captain Joe’s on Freshwater Cove and could not believe our eyes today at about 12:00 noon when a people packed BHC ( Boston Harbor Cruise) ferry came into the harbor and turned around in front of the Copper Paint factory and proceeded to leave the port abruptly.
Query: Why can’t we arrange for said ferry (ies) to tie up and either stay for a couple of hours or at the very least drop people off in Gloucester and/or take people to Boston ? Isn’t Cruiseport designed to do that? Why can’t we at least be part of the Salem – Boston run. It is hard to see that many people with just as many wallets make such a quick meaningless trip.

My memory of “problems” in this department originated with an ongoing battle royal between private dock owners and the City. It was in the 70’s as I recall. At that time there was still quite a bit of “confussion” and controversy about what made a “hospitable” port.
It is quite a shame if that situation has still not been resolved.

There have been conversations w/ WTA, Bostons Best Cruises- nothing firmed up due to the reasons listed previously- and more.
A ferry from Gloucester to Salem would work well as there is already a Salem/Boston ferry from Blaney Street in Salem where their cruise terminal will soon be built. The ferry is run by WTA, Boston’s Best Cruises.

Linn is being humble and putting it simple. Until one dives in and finds out how much (unpaid) work is being done on shore to bring people into town, and what the barriers are, one has no clue. I am continually impressed at the efforts. If only we could get EVERYONE on the same page rather then 100% what is in it for me. Wouldn’t 95% be good enough if the “rising tide floated all boats”? I’ll settle for 70%, create jobs, make payroll and a little grocery money left over.
The opportunity set on by Jimmy T with Survivor, The potential launch of next seasons Amazing Race, build on Birdseye and MightyMac, Perfect Storm, etc..Will it all evaporate due to short sightedness? You saw a vessel. Think of the vessels you did not see. Think of the Busses we do not see.

Year before last BHC was running a ferry between Gloucester and P’town. It was a really fun boat ride and they mixed in a little whale watching too. I called the following year to see if they were going to do it again and they said no as there wasn’t enough interest. I found that hard to believe.
