Joey
I put a quick video of the start of dismantling of the Gloucester MA Lobster Trap Christmas Tree.

January 9, 2010
The Gloucester MA Lobster Trap Christmas Tree being dismantled by volunteers.
Volunteers started to show up at 7:00 AM on a very cold winter morning.
At 6:40 AM a crescent moon was over the Tree and a flock of birds did a fly by in salute to the tree, and all the smiles it brought to so many people over the holidays.
Over 500 lobster traps, donated by local lobster men, had to be cut away from each other and lowered down to the ground. The traps had to be identified and sorted to insure delivering back to each rightful owner. Two large truck and a few pick truck loads of traps loaded and hauled back to East Gloucester. Did I mention it was a cold winter morning?

remember him.
Larry Glick was a Boston radio talk showhost, whose long-running show on WBZ
and later WHDH became a New England
institution in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
I Stayed up Late at night listening to him
when I was in High School in the 70’s.
He was the original Howard Stern and Art Bell put together. Maybe not as racy, but he did have his moments.
Here’s a link to a great Website where you
can listen to some of his best moments
FOR FREE! That’s my favorite part.
What does this have to do with Gloucester?
NOTHING, other than he had a lot of Fanshere.
Were you one of them?
ENJOY!
I love it downtown.

As a new GMG reporter I am already starting to run dry of island topics in the start of the winter doldrums. So to fill in on Friday I will supply an internet tip.
Someone out there, maybe a family member, thinks you are a computer guru because you bought something from Amazon. So they e-mail you a really stupid question like what is the address for Amazon or how do you put a stamp on your e-mail.
Here is your response: What is Good Morning Gloucester? << click the link for an example of the trick.
OK, that was pretty nerdy. How did I do it? Easy. The link for that one is:

You can come up with your own by just replacing the ending with the question they asked and putting the plus sign in between. Try it out. Amuse your friends. Or maybe it is just me that is easily amused.
Tomorrow (Saturday Morning) the lobster trap tree will be taken down.
Ed Collard sent an email asking for any help they could get from the community. I’ll have our team of photogs there to capture it in the morning around 9am so show up and get your picture taken for GMG.
Hopefully we get a nice turn out of GMG fans to help out. Tell em Joey sent ya! It’s on Main St at the Police headquarters pavillion.
