Friday’s Net Tip

As a new GMG reporter I am already starting to run dry of island topics in the start of the winter doldrums. So to fill in on Friday I will supply an internet tip.

Someone out there, maybe a family member, thinks you are a computer guru because you bought something from Amazon. So they e-mail you a really stupid question like what is the address for Amazon or how do you put a stamp on your e-mail.

Here is your response: What is Good Morning Gloucester? << click the link for an example of the trick.

OK, that was pretty nerdy. How did I do it? Easy. The link for that one is:

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=What+is+Good+Morning+Gloucester?

You can come up with your own by just replacing the ending with the question they asked and putting the plus sign in between. Try it out. Amuse your friends. Or maybe it is just me that is easily amused.

Here is another.

A Call For Help Taking Down The Lobster Trap Tree

Tomorrow (Saturday Morning) the lobster trap tree will be taken down.

Ed Collard sent an email asking for any help they could get from the community. I’ll have our team of photogs there to capture it in the morning around 9am so show up and get your picture taken for GMG.

Hopefully we get a nice turn out of GMG fans to help out. Tell em Joey sent ya! It’s on Main St at the Police headquarters pavillion.

Last weekend of the season at The Topside

From Doug Silva-

Hey everyone,

As you may or may not know, this is the last weekend we are open for the season at the Topside Restaurant. I wanted to say thank you to everyone that helped make this last season a great one! Even in this “not so good” economy, we were able to have a great year and a lot of that is because of you! This weekend we are hoping to go out with a bang. We are featuring entertainment Thursday, Friday, & Saturday. I hope you can make it over to help us say goodbye to 2009 at The Topside and see some old friends and familiar faces! To anyone that has not been able to make it by yet, I hope this is the weekend you can finally make it 🙂 i will be behind the bar tonight and tomorrow, come by early for some dinner and to say hi!! All show’s start at 8:00 here is a lineup of what’s going on:

Thursday – Ric Saint Germaine – Electric guitar, singer/song writer. He has come in almost every Thursday and supported the music. He has even gotten up a few times and did a few songs himself. Covers some of the older classics

Friday  – Ryan Fardy – Rhythm & Blues, rock and funk. He is probably the best act we have had at the Topside and puts on a great show. He’s from Boston and I’m expecting a great night there! If you can only make it to one night, I highly suggest this be the one!

Saturday – Sasquatch (Paul Cohen)- I have not heard him yet, but I hear he’s great and somewhat of a Gloucester legend. He has been playing for years and is well known.

I hope to see you all there, and thanks again for a great year!!

Thanks,

Doug Silva

Chickity Check It!- Elyssa East’s Dogtown:Death and Enchantment in a New England Town

From Josh Brackett-

If you care about Cape Ann and you want a good read, get hold of Elyssa East’s new book, Dogtown: Death and Enchantment in a New England Ghost Town. It’s a real page turner and features many local characters.

Also, could you list CapeAnnPolitics.org in your blogroll? Not much traffic there now, as this is a slow season for politics, but there will be more as we get into the warmer weather. See especially my Cape Ann TV interview that explains what it’s about. CATV gives permission for any use as long as it’s not commercial.

Thanks, JB
