Alchemy restaurant opening again! July 28, 2021

…in Lynnfield! Marketstreet

Welcome back Alchemy and congratulations Serenitee Restaurant Group on the old– and first — is new again.

Alchemy had a 12 year run on Duncan.

Photograph from a fan who traveled to Gloucester just to eat at Alchemy and is pumped to see it back on the North Shore. Thanks Toni for sharing a photo of the exterior with GMG!

The Minglewood Shuffle on Thursday night is moved to Alchemy (yes, Alchemy–no longer Pinoli) at 3 Duncan Street (a side street that runs between Main St and Rogers St) in Gloucester. The reason for the last minute switch is that the floor at Minglewood were redone and the work didn’t get finished in time for the Shuffle.

News From Pinoli

Chef Paolo Laboa has decided to take a job offer on the West Coast and move his family back to California. This move is right for his family, but it is with a heavy heart that we at the Serenitee Restaurant Group say goodbye to Paolo and Pinoli.

Pinoli was built around Chef Paolo and his distinctive cooking style, which is why we have decided to evolve the space into something new, yet familiar. We have listened to what the community and our guests have to say, and are excited to announce that we will bring back the beloved Alchemy. The restaurant will continue with its commitment to utilizing the freshest, local ingredients, but the menu will be broader, incorporating many different cooking styles.

During this evolution, the space will not close; Jeff Cala and Serenitee Executive Chef Derek Clough will be in the kitchen to see the restaurant through this transition.

Expect to see a familiar name on Duncan Street sometime this month!

Sincerely,

The Serenitee Restaurant Group

Here’s the Deal On Alchemy…

We will be reopening fall 2014 with Chef Paolo Laboa in the kitchen. Paolo’s menu will consist of genuine Northern Italian cuisine that showcases the freshest, local ingredients at approachable prices.

If you want to catch Paolo before the opening, he will be touring the Serenitee Group restaurants. Paolo will work the team to create a signature dish that reflects his interpretation of the restaurant’s cuisine.

Head to Facebook for more information on where Paolo is: https://www.facebook.com/AlchemyBistro

Power, Women, & Alchemy

My friend Silvie is yet again shaking up the scene, and in a good way. In September she hosted a successful event at Savour https://goodmorninggloucester.wordpress.com/2013/09/23/savours-grand-slam-event/. This month it's at Alchemy on Monday, December 2nd from 5pm to 8pm. She stressed that you need to get your tickets before Thanksgiving, because they're selling fast. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door. 10% of proceeds go to Pathways for Children.

Vegetarian Thanksgiving Challenge at Alchemy – November 19

Vegetarian Thanksgiving Challenge

Location: Alchemy
Date: November 19, 2013
Time: 7:00 pm
Cost: $25
To keep with the season of giving, bring a canned good with you to the event for The Open Door, and we will match your donation can for can.

Are you [or someone close to you] a vegetarian who feels a little left out during the Thanksgiving season? Do pilgrim sandwich specials and Pinterest boards devoted to Thanksgiving leftovers bum you out? Then, Alchemy has the chef throw down for you!

On November 19th Chef Scott Jensen takes on the team at Organic Garden Cafe of Beverly in a Vegetarian Thanksgiving Challenge – and, trust us, this is nothing like your grocery store’s tofurkey. At the challenge, every guest will receive a signature challenge cocktail, a Thanksgiving-inspired dish from each chef, and the opportunity to cast their vote for the winner!

Come join the fun and say hi to Peter who will be the MC for the event.

Wicked Tuna Throwdown at Alchemy Tuesday 9/10

Wicked Tuna Challenge

This Tuesday, September 10th, Alchemy’s Chef Scott Jensen will challenge Chef Steve Morlino of Boston’s Union Bar and Grille to a Wicked Tuna throw down! Both chefs will whip up their best dish using the famed tuna – yes, the tuna from the show – and YOU will get the chance to choose the winner.  Peter Van Ness will MC the contest just like a seafood throwdown, but YOU are the judges and Cape Ann TV will film — even in the kitchen!

The Wicked Tuna Challenge starts at 7:30 – so don’t be late. For $25, every guest gets a signature challenge cocktail made with Gloucester’s own Ryan & Wood spirits, a Wicked Tuna dish from each chef, and the opportunity to cast their vote for the winner. Oh, and did we mention Chef Scott Jensen got his start in Boston at Union Bar and Grille?

Call Alchemy (978.281.3997) to reserve your spot now – space is limited!

Two Buddies Show Photos by Anthony Marks

Thank you so much to everyone that came out to support EJ and my show at Alchemy.  Thank you Anna and James Eves from Cape Ann Giclee for their quick turnaround and super high quality work creating my photos into canvas wraps (you don’t have to be a professional photographer to visit James and Anna at 20 Maplewood Ave and have a canvas wrap of your work created)

I’m really proud of the work.  Really proud of it.

Unfortunately we had a boat that stayed out lobstering past the time that the show ran so I could only manage to stop in to say hi in between offloading lobster boats and didn’t get out of work til after the show was over.  For the brief time I could stop in it was great to see many of our FOB’s and people from the Gloucester Education Fund who 10% of the proceeds of the sale of our work at Alchemy will go to.

if anyone else has photos from our opening could you send them in to goodmorninggloucester@yahoo.com I know Charlie Carroll was snapping away and Jason Grow was taking photos as well.  I’d love to see what I missed.

Don’t panic, we’ve figured tonight out for you

Raffle Prizes for the GCA FundraiserYou’re overwhelmed.  So are we.  That’s why we’ve got an itinerary that you can follow to make sure you get everything you really want to do into tonight.  It’s good practice for tomorrow (Men’s night in case you haven’t been paying attention).

For those of you who like to start early, it’s dinner at Jalapenos GCA fundraiser at 5pm.  While you’re there, enter to win some great prizes pictured to the right.  You don’t have to be present when the prizes are drawn in order to win.  Just be sure your name is on the raffle ticket.

At 6:30 catch the PART 1 premiere of Dan King on his Local Music Seen with Allen Estes farewell tribute with special guest J.B. Amero that we previewed in this post.  You can run home to catch the show, or, better yet, ask the bar manager where ever you are to turn the TV to Channel 12.

Then at 7, head over to Alchemy to see Chelsea Berry and drop off a toy for the Pathways Toy Drive.

Finish up the night at with Fly Amero and his 80s rock star guest Jon Butcher at the Rhumb Line.  Whew!

Then be sure to get plenty of rest so you can start all over tomorrow at Men’s Night.
