Pick #3: Â The South Asian Showdown 2016
I’ve never even heard about this, but if your kids are into dance…how fun!
This and a great dinner in the city…seems like an interesting win for the family.
Thank you for your interest in the South Asian Showdown competition. After the huge success of the last 6 year’s competitions, we look forward to bringing you an even better show this year! Teams from all over North America & Canada will compete to be crowned the Showdown champion.
The concept of Showdown is to put the best Fusion, and Bollywood/Hindi-Film teams up against one another and let the judges have the unenviable task of selecting the best team of the night. Fusion is a combination of any dance style set to a majority of indian music. It is a very creative and unique form of dance incorporating many others forms of dance. Bollywood/Hindi-Film style of dance is based on the Bollywood film style of dance featuring expression, theme and storyline. It is a mini-story on stage set to indian music. This will be an unbelievable show to watch and an unparalleled experience for all the teams to be involved in!
This year’s competition will be taking place on Saturday, February 27th, 2016 @ the John Hancock Hall in the heart of Boston.

Just Announced – Sled Dog Races at Appleton!
The Second Annual Myopia Sled Dog Races was just announced and is changing venues to Appleton Farms. I went to this event last year and it was a big hit with the kids. The first race of the day is a crazy version of cross country skiing, where folks get pulled by their dogs and insanity ensues. Then the youngsters take the helm and you will be astonished how fast they go. I believe this event will get bigger and better each year, as long as they are lucky with the snow. Appleton is going to be a great venue for this and will likely offer better spectator viewing along the course.
Check out their website and their Facebook page
I hope you are enjoying your extended summer. Just a friendly reminder, don’t forget to change the oil in your snow blower. Winter is right around the corner! Weather folks are predicting wild swings in weather this winter.
The Mrs’ Sunflower Centerpiece
The Mrs picked all these flowers at Appelton Farms in which we have a farm share.

Appleton Farms Painting
The Mrs picked fell in love with this painting of Appleton Farms. As many of you regular readers know we have a share at the Farm and she goes every week with The Bean and Snoop Mad. This painting had been hanging in the “share room” and from what she tells me she had admired it every time she saw it.
About five years back while on vacation in Naples, we saw a painting that struck both of us. We didn’t buy it and have gone into the gallery every year since in search of it but its not there.
So when she told me about this particular painting and how much she loved it I told her I’d get it for her for her Christmas present.
So now you know what’s hanging over the mantle.

Family At Appleton Farms
Snoop Maddie Mad is extremely independent and stubborn. Case in point this weekend at Appleton Farms. The Mrs tells me that once she picked out her own pumpkin she wouldn’t let anyone else touch it or carry it. She was determined to carry it herself. All day.
The Mrs tells me she must have dropped it a hundred times, but every time someone else tried to help her she threw a fit because she wanted to carry it herself. And so it went. Ten steps and a dropped pumpkin. Pick it up and another ten steps or so. Drop. Pick it up. Repeat.
She’s a maniac.

The Mrs Salad
The Mrs made this salad using most everything she gets from our share at Appleton Farms.
