Host Allen Estes welcomes Newburyport’s Lynne Taylor as his guest on Cape Ann TV’s Local Music Seen tonight at 6pm. If you miss it tonight, you can catch her Wednesday at 6:30pm or Friday at 1pm. See full schedule here.
The daughter of a folk musician and a poet, Lynne grew up in Kent, Ohio during the seventies, and absorbed the social consciousness of that time. She has always felt that music was her calling. She began writing her own songs at the age of fourteen, and has been performing professionally ever since. Lynne’s music is characterized by poignant, honest songwriting combined with a powerful vocal style and unique piano accompaniment. A staple on the music scene in her adopted hometown of Newburyport, MA, she has been performing professionally across the northeastern US since 1985.
In addition to being a popular solo artist, Lynne can also be found having a blast playing bass in her all original punk band, Halo and the Harlots and in roots/alt/country band Liz Frame and the Kickers! One thing is certain; Lynne Taylor has a sound and spirit that is instantly recognizable and all her own!
Lynne released a self-produced solo CD entitled Grace in 1996 and her band, Rantic, released their self-titled CD in 2001. Liz Frame and the Kickers released their first full-length studio recording in Oct. 2011, Halo and the Harlots released their self-titled debut in 2014, and Lynne released When Lightning Strikes in Oct. 2013.

Both tremendously talented musicians promise to make for excellent shows. You can join the studio audience at Cape Ann TV, 38 Blackburn Center (get directions). As usual we ask that you get there by 2pm, but don’t expect us to start on time — it’s TV, something always happens.
Here are a couple of videos to give you an idea of the very high level of musicianship you can expect to enjoy.

I sympathize. Life is tough when you can’t get your panda fix from the National Zoo because the Panda Cams are dark. Or perhaps you’re wondering what to do after seeing that scary message “NOAA.gov and most associated web sites are unavailable” at www.noaa.gov.
But don’t be depressed. When the Allen Estes Band takes the stage on Saturday, the lights will be on at the Larcom Theatre in Beverly (which opened in 1912 — same year as Fenway Park — under the slogan “Lit Completely by Electricity” and it still is!)
Cape Ann TV is still on. And tonight they premiere a new Local Music Seen show featuring Marina Evans as Allen Estes’ guest on Channel 12 at 6:30pm.
Don’t worry, Marina will be there even if the Government is still shut down.
And, of course, there’s live music all week here in Gloucester. See the live music lineup here.
Just in case any of you in Washington who voted to shut down the government are reading this post about all that’s going on here despite your antics, we’ve got five words for you: THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

Giuseppe’s gets it. They know how to blend food and music into an entertaining evening out for all ages.
Earlier this year they partnered with T Max, editor of The Noise Magazine to feature local singers and songwriters in what became a very popular Singer – Songwriter Shuffle.
Beginning tonight at 6:30pm, Giuseppe’s owners, Joe Thomas and Memory Layne are Allen’s guests on his Cape Ann TV show Local Music Seen with Allen Estes on cable channel 12. The show airs again on Friday at 1pm, and Sunday at 6pm. For all of you FOBs, who don’t live in Gloucester, you can now watch Local Music Seen and other shows on Cape Ann TV’s wicked cool on-line streaming service here.
If you do live here, bop on down to Giuseppe’s after the show and see rising stars Renee & Joe perform live at 7pm. Then you can head over to the Rhumb Line and catch Allen with special guests, The Backwoods Ramblers later in the evening.
All of us are looking forward to a few weeks from now when Giuseppe’s fires up their Singer/Songwriter Shuffle for an exciting new season. Stay tuned . . .

Over the past few years, we’ve profiled a number of rising stars from Cape Ann. Here’s our latest pick for whom to watch: Alexandra Valenti. Her insightful songs and endearing spirit captivate audiences and keep you listening, wanting more.
You can see her live at the Town Hall Stage at 3pm during Manchester’s Festival by the Sea this Saturday. And you can be introduced to her on Local Music Seen with Allen Estes tomorrow (WED) at 6:30pm on Cape Ann TV Channel 12. She sings three wonderfully original songs and speaks candidly — and with wisdom beyond her years — about the songwriting process and music business. Here’s a taste of what you can expect:
“I’m on a tightrope, balancing myself so I don’t choke on fear.” You can tell she’s going places if she’s already writing lyrics like that. You might as well catch this rising star while you can close to home. It won’t be long before she’s playing big venues far away for a steep ticket price.

Next Monday 7/29, we’re filming two Local Music Seen with Allen Estes shows for Cape Ann TV at their studio at 38 Blackburn Center (see map). Filming will begin around 2:30pm. Allen’s guests will be Joe Thomas & Memory Lane of Giuseppe’s, who hosted the very popular Noise Magazine Singer Songwriter Shuffle. There will be a break after filming Joe & Memory and then we’ll begin filming a show with very talented, young singer/songwriter Alexandra Valenti as Allen’s Guest. Here’s Alexandra at the Singer Songwriter Shuffle.
People are welcome to attend as guests. If you’d like to attend, please be there by 2:30pm. And please be patient as we have to test sound and lights and often we have to move stuff around and mess with various gadgets to get things just right.
If you’d like to be notified, by email, of all future Local Music Seen with Allen Estes tapings (along with other concert info before the public knows) you can join our gimmeLIVE Concert Club here.

OK, if you haven’t heard Joe Wilkins, it’s time. Don’t let his pleasant, unassuming personality fool you. This guy is a powerhouse talent, whose songs paint vivid pictures in your head, so you might not notice just how good he is on guitar. You can see him on Local Music Seen with Allen Estes tomorrow (WED) at 6:30pm on Cape Ann TV Channel 12. Then bop over to Giuseppe’s and catch him live with Chris Langathianos.
If you miss tomorrow, you can see him with Joe Cardoza on bass and Leo Ciamitaro on drums at Dog Bar for a Fiesta Friday party. And if you’re in the mood for something more quiet, catch solo him at The Landing on Saturday. See full live music schedule here.

Last month we told you about Cape Ann TV’s Annual Meeting, which they filmed and it airs as a special tonight at 10:30 p.m. Channel 12.
“Why would I want to watch an annual meeting?” you ask. Well, this is not your average annual meeting. It’s fun. Allen Estes and I were among 4 producers who talked briefly about our experiences and showed clips from our shows (Local Music Seen in our case). The other producers were Kim Smith who wowed us with clips from her spectacular butterfly movie that premieres Friday at Cape Ann Community Cinema (more on that here); Shaun Goulart, who’s tale of how he came to make his thriller is almost a thrilling as the movie itself; and John Ronan, who has the longest running show on Cape Ann TV and offered us a wonderful surprise in his clips. Here’s a taste of what you’ll see:
If you miss it tonight, you can catch it again Saturday 6/22 at 5pm and Monday 6/24 at 9pm.
One of the things Allen talked about is how the music scene in Gloucester and Cape Ann is growing. Proof that he’s right can be witnessed this weekend with over 50 live shows to choose from starting tomorrow. See the complete live music schedule here.

This show will get you psyched to see her live. Even though her TV performance reaches through the screen and grabs your heart, there’s just no substitute for her live shows. This one is likely to sell out so get your tickets now -right here.

Check out this video of Allen Estes’ new song, “We All Fall Down”, which premieres on his show Local Music Seen with Allen Estes tomorrow (WED) at 6:30pm on Cape Ann TV Channel 12. Allen had been working on this song before the marathon bombing, which gave the song a more profound meaning closer to what we’re all feeling right now. If this song doesn’t move you, nothing will.
In this special show, Allen is his own guest and sings four new songs and one older one from his Nashville writing days. He ends with one of my new favorites, “Swimming” or “The Good Harbor Beach Song” — a perfect way to get into the Cape Ann Summer spirit!
Dave Foley & Rich Holerook came to the North Shore for a special taping of Local Music Seen with Allen Estes. The show airs on Cape Ann TV Channel 12 Wednesday (tonight), at 6:30pm and it airs again Friday at 1:30pm and Sunday at 6pm.

Boston rock star Charlie Farren (lead singer/guitarist for The Joe Perry Project & Farrenheight) has emerged as an outstanding solo acoustic artist, who has always been known for great songs and great singing. He proves why as the featured guest on Local Music Seen with Allen Estes, which premieres tonight at 6:30pm on Cape Ann TV Channel 12.
You may remember that a couple of years ago, Charlie teamed up with Jon Butcher (another Boston rock star – see Jon Butcher videos here) to form Farren, Butcher, Inc. (FBI). Perhaps you remember their spectacular benefit for the Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team at Cruiseport!
Here’s a sneak preview of tonight’s premiere with Charlie singing his smash hit You Are The Only One. Watch and you’ll know why he’s a star!
After you catch the show tonight at 6:30 there are excellent live music choices in town, making it very hard to choose. They’re all free and they start at 7,8 and 9, so you could try to catch some of every show. Check out the complete live music schedule here.
