To the people who begrudge EJ From Pimping Her Book Here…

Please unsubscribe.

I’ve read your nasty comments.  Her Kickstarter has something like 11 more days for her to potentially be able to get her book financed.

If you can’t see how much she gives back to the community by posting artists openings, volunteering for the Rocky Neck Art Colony, hosting  Mug-Ups, ect, ect, ect then you’re just not paying enough attention.

She hits her daily time slot here on GMG 99 out of a 100 days and 95% of the posts she composes are to help promote other community organizations or bring some interesting bit of information to our readership that they might not already have known.

So if you are not interested in the Kickstarter campaign for her new book and simply can’t bring yourself to scroll past her post during the next 10 days of her Kickstarter Campaign without writing a nasty comment then lets just do everyone a favor and please unsubscribe yourself.

For all the labor of love energy we put into this thing called GMG we don’t need your negative energy mucking up the works.

Unbelievable.

This goes for Kim Smith’s movie night promotions, Felicia’s cookbooks and anything else that our contributors who strive to bring you great stuff every single day occasionally will pimp here on these pages.   335 posts a year trying to help others throughout the community, 30 posts trying to get her book financed and some people are that ignorant that they have to spew vitriol because they begrudge her of promoting her art.

Again, Unbelievable.

EJ and Karen Ristuben Get Their SUP On!

EJ and Karen swung by the dock on their SUP vehicles.  When I asked them if they had ever fallen they both replied only once or twice which amazes me and shows just how stable these things are.

To date I still haven’t tried it but I’m really looking forward to the back feeling like it’s not hanging on by a thread so I can get out there.

In the meantime check out the latest from Cape Ann SUP

Evelyn Howe- FOB Will Be Missed

FOB Evelyn was at every GMG event, Mug Ups, Our Show at Cape Ann Giclee, All the Gallery openings.  Always with a huge infectious smile.  The kind of smile that people from out of town get when they move to Gloucester and throw themselves into the community and “Get What Gloucester Is All About”

So sad to see such a positive spirit leave the GMG family.  She will be missed.

EJ and Friends Getting Their Cape Ann SUP On!

Posted on September 4, 2012 by Joey C

It is a total blast, but also a really great low impact workout and a beautiful, peaceful way to explore the harbor and environs. I got to do my first exploration of Ten Pound Island and Evelyn and I accompanied The Bounty out of the inner harbor yesterday morning.

My friends are Evelyn Howe and Becky Bernie of Magnolia and East Gloucester. Today was Becky’s first time and yesterday was Evelyn’s, and we paddled from Oak’s Cove over to Joey’s dock and back to Madfish Wharf in under an hour.

Final Mug Up of 2012

Posted on October 2, 2012 by E.J.

It was a great final Mug Up on Rocky Neck Sunday.  Although we didn’t do food competitions this year like last, only the blueberry bake one, I have to say that Evelyn Howe won the best contribution to a Mug Up this season with her pumpkin cheesecake with praline topping – which topped Ann Kennedy’s candied bacon with chocolate sauce, which came in really close to Gigi Mederos’ pickled zucchini which doesn’t sound like much, but was tastebud tantalizing.  Many people brought wonderful additions to the Mug Up fare this season, but these three homemade contributions were spectacular.  Thanks Evelyn, Ann and Gigi.

Happy Birthday EJ! You Light Up All Our Lives With Your Positive Spirit!

We have a bunch of positive minded, kind, creative folks that are part of our little GMG community.  Perhaps no one among us embodies what it is to be a GMG’er more than our friend EJ.

Out My Work Window- EJ

Hi Joey, If you don’t have something to put up from someone else.

As you know I have two work places, Annisquam in the winter and Khan Studio and the Good Morning Gloucester Gallery at Madfish Wharf on Rocky Neck in the summer.  I feel really blessed to be at both of them, and they each have wonderful views and their own unique characteristics.  Out my studio window in Annisquam I look at Lobster Cove and the footbridge.  There are no windows to look out of at the Gallery on Madfish Wharf, but out the back door, the view is great.  Out the front door, the view is great.  And even inside, the view isn’t too shabby.   EJ

Happy Birthday To One Of My Greatest Presents Of 2011- Our Friend EJ

image

I can’t begin to tell you how much EJ has brought to our lives.  Her positive energy, her photo and video contributions, her expert handling of the GMG Gallery this past summer at Rocky Neck, the hosting of the Mug-Ups but mostly her friendship.

EJ brings so much to us every day and is such a kindred spirit in that she has the best of all worlds, the compassion of an artist and the  organizational sense and responsibility of a business person.

EJ, thank you for coming into my life as such a great friend to not just me but the entire GMG community.  Your friendship has been one of my greatest gifts this past year.

We love you.

The Boss

Did You Know? Well now you do!

GMG’S own EJ has been selected as seARTS Member of the week. Congrats EJ!

What is your medium?

I am a photographer, painter (primarily oils, acrylics and mixed media) and writer (including being a regular contributor to Good Morning Gloucester)

How long have you been an artist?

I guess all my life, but began actively pursuing my life as an artist in 1990 after leaving the corporate world.

Where do you get your inspiration?

Now that I am living on Cape Ann, my inspiration is everywhere I look, everyone I meet, and everything I learn about this amazing place.  It’s a little overwhelming.
What else would you like us to know?

I’m a type A corporate risk manager turned artist.  I’ve traveled alot, lived many places, operated a number of galleries and non-profit cultural centers, and have also worked as a marketing services provider to artists for many years providing art printing, matting and framing, artwork photography, web design, and other services.
Where can we find your works?

Until I close the gallery on October 15, at Khan Studio and the Good Morning Gloucester Gallery, 77 Rocky Neck Ave., G3 on Madfish Wharf. Always on my website at www.khanstudiointernational.com, on October 8th and 9th at the Annisquam Arts & Crafts Show at Village Hall in Annisquam.

Tonight! Our EJ To Be The Featured The Alchemy of Art Artist

image

Alchemy Bistro continues it’s “The Alchemy of Art” Gallery Series, a yearlong art showcase featuring local artists and benefiting arts education in Gloucester through the Gloucester Education Foundation.  This month’s featured artist is Ellen “EJ” LeFavour.  The April show will open Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 5:30-7:30 with an open gallery night at the bistro featuring complimentary appetizers, the music of Chelsea Berry and a chance to meet the artist.
In a statement from the artist, EJ shared, “I use my paintbrush, camera and computer graphics to express and pass on to others my joy and peace in life.
Since moving to Cape Ann, I have been focusing on both the natural beauty of the area, and the spiritual connection it imparts, as well as the historical significance of the area.
I hope my work instills a sense of peace in you, gives you joy and expands your love and appreciation of Cape Ann.”
EJ’s lives in Annisquam.  Her works have won numerous awards and found homes in private collections around the world. Her path to the North Shore has taken her through Boston, Jamaica, Key Largo, and East Boston. She also runs Khan Studio which provides services for other artists and the general public which range from photographing . To view more of her work and that of other artists in Khan Studio, go to www.khanstudiointernational.com
All paintings are available for purchase on-site at Alchemy Bistro, 3 Duncan Street in Gloucester with cash or credit at the event and throughout the month.  The series benefits the Gloucester Education Foundation with a 10% donation from the sale of all paintings throughout the year donated to that organization to support and grow arts programs in the schools.  A year-end gala auction is in the works with 100% of the sale of auction proceeds also going to the GEF.
Alchemy would like to extend our Request for Artists and invite local artists who are interested in potentially showing their art at Alchemy to contact us and we will send out our “Guidelines for Consideration” package. Artists to be showcased in 2011 will be contacted by Alchemy. For more information please contact Matt Rose at mattalchemy@gmail.com or at Alchemy at 978-281-3997.  For information on the GEF and it’s mission go to www.thinkthebest.org
