This Sunday, August 11th at 9:30, there will be a joint Madfish Wharf Mug Up on the patio behind Alma’s Arts & Antiques and Carol McKenna’s Gallery – a  lovely, cool undercover outdoor spot with a gorgeous view of Smiths Cove.   Come by for some Sunday morning socializing and sharing of food with friends old, new and not yet met.  Parking is a breeze on Sunday mornings.  This Mug Up will also include the first annual Chocolate Chip Cookie competition, so bring on your favorite Chocolate Chip cookies for a friendly competition.  Cape Ann Giclee James is judge #1, who else can we convince to judge chocolate chip cookies?  Paul?  Ed?  Joey?

Then from 6-8:00 pm, Kathy Roberts will be having an opening reception for her View of Beaches, Back Shores and Seaports of Cape Ann exhibit of paintings at Khan Studio and the Good Morning Gloucester Gallery.

  1. I’m, ahem, not going to make any promises, but will try to make one of Sunday’s events, they both sound fab and I miss you all. 🙂

  2. Has anyone posted an over/under on when Sista Felicia goes over the top on the KickStarter Cookbook? Less than 900 to go so I take the under that it will be funded by Mug Up Sunday. Who’s going to put her over the top?

And did someone say crunchy chocolate chip cookies?

      1. Hardtack (or hard tack) is a simple type of cracker or biscuit, made from flour, water, and sometimes salt. Inexpensive and long-lasting, it was and is used for sustenance in the absence of perishable foods, commonly during long sea voyages and military campaigns. The name derives from the British sailor slang for food, “tack”. It is known by other names such as pilot bread (as rations for ship’s pilots), ship’s biscuit, shipbiscuit, sea biscuit, sea bread (as rations for sailors) or pejoratively “dog biscuits”, “tooth dullers”, “sheet iron”, “worm castles” or “molar breakers”.
Not particularly healthy, but better than nothing on a long ocean voyage aboard a schooner.
