Søren Kierkegaard Quote of The Week From Greg Bover
“Anxiety is the dizziness of freedom.”
Søren Kierkegaard (1813- 1855)
Often described as the Father of Existentialism, Kierkegaard, a Dane, was highly critical of the established church in his native country, finding it more concerned with politics than with the divine. During his short life he kept a 7,000 page journal in which his philosophy and theology are minutely explained. Kierkegaard observed that self-examination is the only road to self-awareness. His insistence that one should tirelessly question for oneself how best to live influenced philosophers from Camus to Heidegger, Sartre, and Niebuhr.

This www.gloucesterwebcam.com local webcam portal project was an idea I had last year to have as many webcams streaming from local businesses or organizations as possible which highlight the incredible vistas that we as people that live and work here get to enjoy each and every day.
The idea was to have the organization install the webcam, have them embed the webcam feed on their own websites as well and have a link to each business website on the Gloucester webcam portal website to showcase their business as well.
Tim Blakeley from Gloucester Bytes provided the initial installation at ridiculously cheap cost because he believed in the project.
Gloucester Inner Harbor Painting – 16X20" Acrylic on Stretched Canvas From Bill Hubbard
Joey,
Here’s a painting I did a while ago. Model was a 1909 Post Card. The view is from Banner Hill, as it appeared then, with the Shoares, Wonson and Booth Fisheries wharves in foreground. Center is Rocky Neck with marine railways on the right and the background is the city skyline and wharves with a Salt Bark being towed out to the channel.
Hope you can use it..
Regards,
Bill

Cape Ann Painters and Photographers Group
Hi everyone,
Greetings!
This is just a reminder that our regular second Monday of the month meeting will be held at “The Annie”, One Washington Street, Gloucester on Monday, April 9 at 9:00AM. There will coffee/mingle time from 9-9:30 with the meeting beginning at 9:30 and ending at 11AM. We will continue with our format of having everyone “check in” for  a few minutes to tell us what you have been working on.
Thanks and hope to see you then.
Alice Gardner
Note: This group that Alice Gardner started is evolving into a really great networking, sharing and fun event for Cape Ann artists, so if you’ve thought about joining us, please do. You won’t be sorry. All creative types on Cape Ann are welcome (you don’t have to be a painter or photographer). Henry Allen and The Annie are great hosts too – thanks Henry.

Surprise guest at Shalin Liu last night ~ another surprise at the Brew Pub tonight
Miranda Russell at Shalin Liu last night with surprise guest Inge Berge on guitar (L-R: John Hyde, Joe Kessler, Miranda Russell, Vincent Briguglio, Inge Berge, Leo Ciaramitaro)
Justin Piper’s wife was in labor so Miranda called Inge at about 4pm to ask if he could sit in. Â Inge was excellent with some great solos, which proves just how versatile he is (in case anyone ever doubted). Â See Inge’s new hit video here. Â Very different style indeed!
As of this morning there were 5 tickets left for Miranda’s show tonight. Â You can see if they’re still available here.
For the rest of you, there are plenty of other choices tonight (full music lineup here). Â Our good friend Allen Estes will be with Dan King & Friends at Cape Ann Brewery starting at 9pm. Â He’s just finished a new song. Â Ask him to play it.
On The Wall art show at The Annie tonight!
If you haven’t heard, there’s going to be a great art opening at The Annie tonight with a group of fantastic young artists from around town! Watch the video below for more details, check out the Facebook page, or just show up sometime this evening to take it all in. Doors open at 4:00!

Brad Byrd writes-
Hey Joey, Brad Byrd here… just wanted to catch up w/u (hopefully you’ll see this email) and say thanks for coming out to Lat 43 on St Patty’s Day and being a part of the video shoot. The video is almost finished and I’m excited to show you and Gloucester/Cape Ann. I also wanted to personally thank you for including/featuring me in your GMG blogs over the last couple months or so. Congrats again on all the blogs success!
That said, I wanted to let you and your readers know that we will be doing another video for another song off my new album on May 5th at Lat 43 again. This time w/my full band. It’s going to be a big night. I’m also playing every Thursday night from 8-11pm at Giuseppe’s solo for the month of April.
