Cape Ann Brewery is located at 11 Rogers Street on the water by St. Peter’s park. If you’re in town it’s a gorgeous day for a harbor walk to check the painting out LIVE! I’ll post more info and photographs of the mural in progress.

If you miss seeing him in action today, you’ll have another chance as he’s signed on to paint LIVE again at the Harvest Festival. You can follow Danny on Instagram @pyse117 and http://www.skribblefish.com

The Great Gloucester Steak Bomb Challenge

Directed by Joey Ciaramitaro, with thanks to judges Ed Collard, Chris DeWolfe, Craig Kimberley, and Brian O’Connor. Special thanks to Alicia and Chris at Mamie’s Kitchen for hosting the challenge. Thanks to Bex and Toby for all their help with keeping the competition organized.

The top four Steak Bomb challengers, voted for by the Good Morning Gloucester community, are: Cape Ann Brewing, Captain Hooks, Destino’s, and Leonardo’s.

Music ~

James Bond Theme (Dr. No)

Peter Gunn Theme

Mambo Italiano Dean Martin

Produced by Kim Smith for Good Morning Gloucester

Judges Ed Collard, Chris DeWolfe, Brian O’Connor and Craig Kimberley took their judging duty very seriously.  The one part I would say would not be a fair comparison is Cape Ann brewing based on price since their price includes fries, slaw and a pickle.  However even if you threw the value category out Cape Ann Brewing would have come in last.

Captain Hooks wins People Choice with far and away most number of nominations.

Overall Best Gloucester Steak Bomb Challenge winner Based on Value, Taste, Packaging,  Lack of Sogginess and Equal Distribution of Meat is Destinos.

Once again it was noted by all four judges that each one of these subs was a winner.  To be nominated out of all the incredible sub shops in Gloucester is in itself a testament to how great each one of these Steak Bombs are and Cape Ann Brewing, Captain Hooks, Leonardos and Destinos all deserve accolades

Thanks To Mamie’s Kitchen for providing a neutral stage for judging.  Thanks to our sub picker uppers.  thanks to Kim Smith for filming (look for her awesome video Thursday).

You’d be happy to patronize any of these fine eateries.  Today at Mamie’s Kitchen Chris will be serving up his killer Cheese Steak Sub in honor of yesterday’s competition.

After four rounds it looked like Captain Hooks Had It In The Bag But in the Final Taste Round (accounting for 40% of the scores) Destinos Pulled Out A Dramatic Come From Behind Win.

We had Bex, Chris DeWolfe, Kim Smith and Brianmoc go in for the sub pick-ups last night.  Brought the subs in and weighed and recorded the weights and sequestered the judges in a separate room while we marked each sub Sub A, Sub B, Sub C and Sub D to insure no bias and a blind tasting.

Cape Ann Brewing Has Some Fine Ass Wings

Not Greasy, Crispy on the Outside but not dried out.  Excellent choice in G Town.

Craig Kimberley with that ugly Steelers Hoodie.  Blech.  Ruined an otherwise excellent picture.

Rubber Duck Gets a Parking Ticket!!

Just to show the honorable and effective meter maids of Gloucester do not play favorites they practically put the ticket under RD’s bill. But since Rubber Duck did indeed stretch the idea of a parking spot a bit parking at the front door of the Cape Ann Brew she went and paid the $15 fine promptly.

A bill stuck under the bill, god I suck at puns.

RD Fun fact: Don’t let these tickets sit in your pocket since the fine just gets bigger. Go to: www.gloucester-ma.gov , type in your ticket number and your plate number then shwing, you can use your credit card. They do tack on $3.50 if paid electronically but it is well worth it to get it off your dash or desk top. Pay a parking ticket, fill a pothole.

And it was well worth it. Rubber Duck was giving Shelley the visiting Biochemist from New Mexico the full Cape Ann tour which included lobster pick up and meeting Joey at the dock as well as the fish and chips (awesome huge chunks of haddock) at Cape Ann Brew.

Fish Tacos At Cape Ann Brewing

The Fish Tacos and Haddock sandwich at Cape Ann Brewing are both great.  They have this in house made spicy sauce that I put on which really kicks up the heat nicely!

The deck overlooking the working waterfront is gonna be rocking this summer, check it out!

Cape Ann Brewing Gets New Closed In Awnings

Temp outside 45 degrees.  Temp inside the deck with the new transparent windows a balmy 72 degrees.

Increases the capacity of the joint by 75 people for those shoulder months when folks weren’t likely to imbibe outdoors.  Heat lamps coming within the week according to master brewer Dylan.
