  1. I see Independence almost every day as she enters and leaves the harbor. Can anyone explain what the purpose is? Seems like a waste of diesel fuel and manpower, for it to sit hours on end, SE of the harbor about 6-8 miles out, just circling. Guarding open water? Anyone know the story?
