Hi Joey,

I wanted to contact you because my friend and I have started a local foundation and we were hoping you would help us get the word out. We are running it as a non profit but haven’t legally gotten non profit status yet.  Anyway, in December my unemployment ran out.  I was laid off of my teaching job in NY and am a single mother to 2 young kids.  After I had lost my unemployment, I remember thinking how grateful I was that I had chosen to cloth diaper my children because if I didn’t already have cloth diapers, I had no idea how I would have been able to get diapers because I was broke and no government agency provides diapers.  This led me to wondering what people who don’t cloth diaper would do in a similar situation.  I then found recent articles showing that people without the money to buy disposable diapers will leave the diapers on as long as possible or rinse them out and put them back on the kid.  Neither of these practices are healthy for children due to the chemicals in disposable diapers and being exposed to their own excrement for long periods of time.  So I decided that I would start a local non-profit foundation which lends cloth diapers to low income families.  My friend Emily Glover, also a Gloucester resident, joined me in this cause.  We named the organization "Giving Diapers, Giving Hope".

We would be very grateful if you could help us promote this because the more people that know about it, the more people we can help.  Also, we are running on donations of any kind of diaper related item and of course we are accepting monetary donations as well, to pay for new diapers and repairs.

Please contact us if you have any questions or want more information.

Thanks!
