My Favorite quote!
“I am an Artist. I will live long after I die”
It Reminds me of some of my Favorite Artists who have passed. Such as; Charles Solvek, Alfred Chadbourne, Emile Gruppe, Carleen Muniz, etc., etc.

The Chamber Reports
Fire Last Friday
Back in Business This Week
Last Friday,
a terrible fire at the law offices of Johnstone & Schlichte
destroyed a 100-year old historic building on Pleasant Street; it gutted the
law office and ruined Tricia and Gary Johnstone’s home on the second
floor. The Johnstones lost all of their personal property in the blaze. It
was an awful tragedy for a well-known Gloucester family. At least no one was
seriously injured and the dog was saved.
While the
fire was reported as a total loss, we are pleased to report that the Johnstone
& Schlichte hard drive was stored in a fire-proof safe and the legal files
were saved. The law firm has its records and will be able to resume business
immediately.
Johnstone
& Schlichte has moved right around the corner to the second floor of the
BankGloucester building on Middle Street in Gloucester. The files have already
been moved into place and office furniture is due for arrival on Tuesday. It
will take most of the week to get things running as before but clients can be
assured that the files are intact and legal services are being quickly
restored. The building reconstruction is already in design. Amazingly, the
original masonry walls are in good shape and construction will be underway
soon. An historic Gloucester landmark will be saved.
We wish
Trish, Gary and Catherine the best. Stop by their new pub ‘Stones’
on Main Street to wish them well. They can be reached at 978-283-1413
or email info.
That I am interested in people’s thoughts about a Did You Know book? Admired and respected fellow GMG contributor, Manny Simoes, has been encouraging me to do a book of my Did You Know posts; so I have put together the design, and am interested in knowing what GMG readers and other contributors think about it, before I go to the expense of having it printed. It would be a 5.5×8.5 full color bound soft cover book containing 39 of my (and hopefully other people’s) favorite GMG posts and images (photos and paintings), and based on printing costs would sell for $20. The cover and a couple of example pages are shown here. I respect the opinions and feedback of the greater GMG universe, so would like to know if people think it’s a silly idea, or if you think it looks like something you might buy or think others would buy. Artists always have to be innovative, coming up with new ways to pay the bills so they can continue creating while waiting for those wealthy patrons to come along and discover them, and none of us can afford to make expensive mistakes, so your input would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to see the book in its entirety, you can go to http://www.khanstudiointernational.com/did%20you%20know%20book.htm. Thanks so much, EJ

Will Rich (grew up in Bayview) and Mike Simpson are now paddleboarding from Key West, Florida, to Portland, Maine to raise money for the Wounded Warriors Project and SUP Cleanup.
Their onboard GPS system sends out a tweet every once and a while. That is how I know they are currently paddling up the south side of Marathon Key. http://fms.ws/4MUHp Click on the links below to hook up and watch their process as they move up the coast towards us. They’ll be in Gloucester around 4th of July!

GET NOTICED!
From EmptyEasel.com;
“Now that your art blog is up-and-running (and you have a few posts under your belt) it’s time to get that blog noticed! Below are 8 simple rules for getting more readers. . . and more attention online.
The first rule to getting your blog post noticed by others is to remember who your audience is. You’re not writing in your personal art diary, you’re writing to an audience. Therefore, it’s important that you keep your posts reader-focused.
Its okay to share personal insights about art and the art business, its okay to toot your own horn once in awhile, it’s even okay to share your personal struggles. . . just make sure that when you do, you leave your readers with some sort of “take home value.”
In other words, if you’ve written about a recent struggle you’ve experienced, conclude the post with a solution. If you’ve yet to resolve the problem, share resources (i.e. some helpful links) to possible solutions.
What would you rather read? A post that feels stifled and bogged down with impersonal, textbook-sounding statements, or a post that makes you feel as though the blogger is one of your dearest, and most treasured, friends?
Blog posts which make the reader feel like a real person get shared the most, so when writing your posts, write as though you are writing to your best friend, not a stranger. Write in your own voice and stick to one subject per post.”

Heather Atwood shot a video recently with Chef Jose Duarte of Taranta in Boston’s North End
Jose Duarte is becoming very well known for two reasons, his unique combination of Peruvian and Italian dishes and his absolute dedication to operating a sustainable restaurant. In this video Jose shows Heather how to make a scallop ceviche Peruvian style, called "Tiradito, a ceviche-like treatment of fish cut like sashimi, evidence of the wave of Japanese farm workers who arrived in Peru in the late 19th century." The food is too spectacular not to be recognized. Zagat named it one of the best new restaurants of the Decade. Boston Magazine named it one of the top 50 Restaurants in Boston. The Massachusetts Restaurant Association has just named Jose Duarte “Chef of the Year.”
