Claire D. Way Makes Team USA as Only Skater from new England To Be Chosen! Way To Go Claire!!!!

image

Hi Joey,
I know you are a big fan of the Boston Derby Dames.  One of the skaters,  Claire D. Way, a local girl from Ipswich,
made Team USA.  Team USA will be skating at the World Cup to be held in Toronto Canada – Dec. 1 thru 4, 2011.
Claire D. Way is the only skater from New England to be chosen for the team.  There will be 13 countries participating
in this event.  This should be an historical event.  The team would be proud if you post this on GMG.  Thank you.

Here is her skater profile link:, Meet Team USA: Claire D. Way | DerbyLife

The Rabbit Covers The Massacre Bout For GMG

Let me fill in the blanks as Joey the interview guy extraordinaire failed to make an appearance. ” Life on the docks is what it is right….? ” My buddy at times cant event get out for a few hours…No worries I was on the scene to witness the best Derby bout in two years for Boston Massacre. That’s right Steel City Vs. Boston Massacre was amazing right from the start. Lots of energy and I will post a YouTube link so you can see some early hits….I also found one online of the final victory lap. In a dramatic ending Boston Massacre won and the fans went absolutely bananas. After talking to Feev’s on the sidelines a GMG favorite she expressed how excited she was to skate against a new team. Not only that they are going on the road soon to ME for the first ever bout in Portland 4/23/11. Combine that with allot of new faces this year and you get the picture. Lots of energy and I’m Really exited about the coming bouts…The rest of the stuff remains the same at these events. Cold beer, warm cheeseburgers, great atmosphere, and a kick in the pants delicious cupcakes. By Kickass Cupcakes from Somerville of course. I’m so fat I ate like three. Now after I blabbered on a bit this is the numbers but in no way do the explain how fun it was….I don’t want to add but I have to…..How Wicked Pissahs trounced the Nutcrackers and Anita Bangher was on fire. I guess sometimes you have a off day as some sports team do have. Maybe it was that dang mascot with the wings running around that drove the Wicked Pissah energy through the roof. I know for sure the Nutcrackers will work on the game before their next bout. The bottom two links are the start and finish..I also have a couple for Wicked Pissahs Vs. Nutcrackers.

First Jam

Last Jam

Joey add this under the title after you read it over…..I was at Roller Derby WINNING!

MVP’s I should also mention this…

Anita Bangher (Wicked Pissahs)
Speed Metal (Nutcrackers)
Maura Buse (Boston Massacre)
The Shocker (Steel City)

Bout #1

Boston Massacre vs New Skids on the Block(Montreal)

Montreal and the Massacre have met several times over the last few seasons, but this marks the Skids’ first trip to Shriner’s Auditorium. They’ll br bringing their neon to Boston for the Massacre’s home opener. Long known for their good humor and amazing half-time shows, Montreal spent 2010 showing the WFTDA world what’s up on the track. They swept their games at Philly’s East Coast Extravaganza and made their first appearance at Eastern Regionals. Boston defeated them in the first round of regionals, but Montreal put up a scrappy fight. They’re likely looking for revenge, and this time on Boston’s home track. Keep your eye on two phenomenal Skids jammers, Iron Wench and Ewan Wotarmy. Both have been known to sprint to 20 point jams. Their blockers are no slouches either, with Jess Bandit and Smack Daddy doing serious damage in the pack.

Bout #2

Cosmonaughties vs Nutcrackers

The last these two teams saw of each other, the Cosmos were skating to a playoff’s victory while the Nuts settled in for the third place in the 2010 home team standings. There’s a lot to prove in the home opener, and the Nuts would like to take home a victory fresh out of the gate. The Cosmos, always a bridesmaid, never a bride, are looking to kick off what they hope will finally be a Golden Fez Championship season in 2011.

The Boston Derby Dames are Boston’s first and only all-female, DIY, skater-owned and operated flat track roller derby league and proud members of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association.

Boston Massacre Come Down To Our Dock To Shoot Their 2011 Calendar Pics

If you haven’t been to watch a Roller Derby Bout featuring our own Boston Derby Dames then you have missed out on watching the number one dollar for dollar entertainment value in the State of Massachusetts.  Roller derby is fast paced, action packed, semi violent, the skaters are friendly and you don’t need to be a rocket science to enjoy the sport.  For more info about the Boston Derby Dames click here

We’ve covered The Boston Derby Dames for the past two years first finding out about it through Krush Puppy, a local who kills it on the flat track!  Once I went to my first bout I was hooked.  So when Krush asked if they could shoot the 2011 calendar down at the dock I told her I think it would be a perfect fit.  The team’s image is tough and blue collar and the mascot is Pinchy McMasshole a giant foam lobster- what place would be better than right here at Captain Joe and Sons!
