2015 ESM Schooner Challenge – Photos By FOB Len Burgess

Thank you to the schooner captains, Tom Ellis, Harold Burnham, Mike Rutstein and their crews and everyone who came out to support the Museum. It was an evening of fun with plenty of wind and waves. Here’s a slide show of some photos from the Challenge.

Hope to see you all again next year.

Yo- There’s Goats at First Parish Burial Ground and Clark Cemetery Through Today- Check ‘Em Out!

Crystal Daley forwards-

We want to let everyone know that at First Parish Burial Ground and Clark Cemetery the goats are back. They are munching happily at the vegetation and will be here until next Tuesday. People are free to visit them as they love having company just please remember they have plenty of food already so don’t feed them and they are behind an electric fence for their protection.

We will be hosting a work party this Sunday June 14th starting at 11. So come by and help out and get distracted by the goats. Wear appropriate clothing for outside work.

We look forward to seeing everyone.

I’m STOKed about Grilling On My @stokgrills Drum

Completely obsessed with getting to the BBQ after work and unwinding while creating something delicious.
See the cast iron grates on the STOK Drum grill? I don’t know how any grilling enthusiast would ever go back to aluminum metal grates after using cast iron.   The beauty of it is that these grates came standard on a grill that already cost less than a similarly equipped Weber.
I take pride on how I’ve been caring for them too.  Clean before and after every session and then I keep a mason jar filled with peanut oil right next to my baby and slather on the peanut oil after the cleaning while the grates are still hot.  It’s made them into a beautifully seasoned cooking surface which makes killer hash marks and has a great degree of anti-stick properties just like your favorite well seasoned cast iron pan.
Have I told you yet about how obsessed I am with my new Charcoal grill? Because if I haven’t,  let me tell you I could go on and on.
Can’t wait for our first annual GMG BBQ Throwdown at Stage Fort Park!

I Went Yard

To the Yard House, that is.

I’m pretty certain that I wrote about a yummy meal at the Yard House over a year ago, but it stands repeating.

After a day that involved the boys setting out lobster traps, me beginning to pack for our week’s vacation to Nantucket, some bike riding, playing of catch, an early Father’s Day lunch at Captain Carlo’s on the deck for my dad (because we’ll be away), hockey practice, and the dropping of boys off at my mom’s, Freddy and I did some birthday shopping for Finn and then landed at the Yard House at Market Street for a late dinner.

Totally yummy.

Check out their full menu here if you’d like.

Dolphin Pool pic 2011

May 12, 2015 marks 4 years since my surgery and subsequent diagnosis with a grade IV brain tumor (Glioblastoma Multiforme).  Thanks to my doctors and clinical care nurses in the Neuro-Oncology group at MGH, my beautiful wife and best friend Bonnie and three sons Jake, Liam and Ethan, I have outlived the average prognosis of six to fourteen months.  I’ll join my family (Family Ties) this year to once again walk the Cape Ann Relay for Life. I feel very passionate about trying to give back since I feel like I have been blessed with the life I’ve been re-given and would be remiss if I didn’t try to give back to others fighting this battle.  Our family walks to support those that are suffering in so many ways with a cancer diagnosis.  We walk to honor the people that have come before us that have contributed their time, money and emotional effort to battle cancer so that those that followed them, like me, have more hope.  We walk to help stay positive and treat not just the symptoms but the spirit of those dealing with cancer. I know each of us face trials in our lives, but the lesson I’ve learned is that it is not what happens to you (since we all face adversity in our lives), but how we choose to deal with our challenges and live our lives that will define us.   So we support each other, we walk and we believe that we will see the day when will win this battle again cancer that creates so much fear and suffering.  With progress on the horizon, we continue to work together to raise awareness and money to fund research and to support families dealing with a cancer diagnosis.  These strides forward are made possible with fundraising efforts, such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

See you all on the 20th of June

Geologic Survey Underway in Rockport

Friday morning on my way into Cambridge I stopped to check on the baby shore birds that I have been filming at Henry’s Pond. Setting up on the pond’s edge, I met Zach Strommer, graduate student at UMass, and assistants Andy Fallon and Justin Shawler from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS). Zach is a geology student of Professor John Woodruff and he is writing his thesis on historic storms. The layers of sediment at Henry’s Pond make for an ideal location to gather data. Whenever there is a major storm, the surge pulls sand and salt water into the brackish pond. I wonder how far back in time they will travel. Zach shared his email and said his thesis will be done in about a year. I’ll put it on my calendar and will check back for the results of the study.

Are you a creature of habit?

Yea I’m the weirdo in aisle 13 smelling all the laundry detergent. Growing up my mom ONLY used Tide. Now, I go for whatever smells better. Watch out if there’s a new cool looking label i’ll smell them all.

Do you stick with one brand for detergents? or really anything else for that matter?

Marketing for Artist and Photographers at Cape Ann Giclée

Print

Many of the artists that print with us opt to be represented in our marketing initiatives to sell prints. Call (978) 547-7070 or email info@capeanngiclee.com us to get started on using our free marketing initiatives or set up an appointment to talk about an affordable website to sell your work. Our marketing and website initiatives include:

1- Making your prints available for sale in our online gallery, artists set their own price, we print and ship the prints and charge printing costs, shipping costs and a 20% commission. There is no fee to be included in our online gallery. This service is FREE. You can see the Gallery here –

http://www.capeanngicleeshop.com/product-gallery

2- We offer websites for artists and photographers who would like us to do their print fulfillment. Websites include hosting and a robust ecommerce solution that is tied to our print fulfillment and automatically loads pricing and sizing into your website making uploads of new images easy for you. You use your own custom url ensuring that any SEO you generate for your website is yours. Prices start at $199/year and we have found the $199/year website to be large enough for all the artists we print for but larger options are available and we are happy to go over those with you. For customers who place an initial all at once print order of $1200 with us we waive the $199 website fee and if the customer maintains at least $1900/year in print orders with us we continue to waive the fee.

3- Many artists and photographers have their own websites, they may, however, find it cumbersome to get an order from a customer, forward the order to us, pick the print up from us, and ship it out to the customer. We can show you how you can let your website do the work for you and have your website let us know when you get an order so that we can print it and ship it for you even if you are away on vacation, that way you will never have to worry about keeping your customers satisfied while you are away. We even include your marketing materials and use you business name as the return address so your customers don’t even know it’s coming from us. This service is FREE

4- Our studio space doubles as a gallery space and we gladly show the work of our clients in our gallery space, have a one man show or get together with other artists and do a group show, original works of art are welcome as long as you are willing to take giclee orders for your original art and any photo prints must be printed by us. Call us or stop by to talk about showing your work in our gallery. This service is FREE

Cape Ann Giclee is located at 20 Maplewood Ave, Gloucester, MA. and is open from 10am to 5 pm Mon-Fri.
