DES Crowning 2015 Of Individuals
Father āJimā Achadinha performed the Holy Spirit Mass, and presided of the crowning Ceremonies of Mr. and Mrs. Jose Diaz Ferreira 2015 āMordomoā.
The Crowning of Individuals symbolizes that All are Equal, rich or poor, man or woman; and through the Holy Spirit are connected directly to God. Everyone has a personal reason to be individually crowned.
My mother each year was crowned on Pentecost and Trinity Sunday, each time a personal one. During my brotherās Vietnam Tour she asked for his safe return, I think for me, it was to stay out of trouble. These posts are made in her and my fatherās memories.

Rockport Small Business Persons of the Year Karin and Ken Porter
Ken Porter began working at Roy Moore Lobster Company at 39 Bearskin Neck in 1979 while still in high school. He continued to work there on weekends for the next ten years, while also working as a lobsterman out of Rockport Harbor. The business was started in 1918 by Roy Moore and was later purchased by Dana Woods and operated by Dana and his son Charlie until the 1980s. In 1989, the year that Ken and Karin were married, Ken purchased Roy Moore Lobster Company. In 1998, Karin and Ken opened the Fish Shack restaurant upstairs from the Lobster Company, and operated there until moving the restaurant to its present location at 21 Dock Square in 2003.
While operating these two successful Rockport businesses together for more than 25 years, Karin and Ken Porter have also generously given back to the Rockport community for decades. For many years they have supported every high school class and the DECA program by hosting fund raising spaghetti suppers and pancake breakfasts at the Fish Shack. Every year they also provide the lobsters for and support the Rotary Clubās Lobster Fest and the Navy Committeeās lobster bake. They also support the Council on Aging with an annual dinner for seniors and the Rotary Clubās annual Valentineās Day luncheon for seniors. Every Sunday in February, Ken runs a pool tournament at the Legion Hall to raise funds for Rockportās Veterans Weekend, and every December since moving to Dock Square Karin has provided free hot chocolate following the Christmas in Rockport Tree Lighting ceremony.
Karin and Ken Porter live in Rockport and have two children, John and Charlene.
Essex Small Business Persons of the Year Tim and Vicky Kennefick
Vicky and Tim Kennefick opened the Windward Grille Restaurant in August 2005 after 6 months of renovations. The restaurant was formerly known as the Hearthside Restaurant, a well-known dining destination on the north shore. Our goal was to bring the restaurant back to the reputation it had once enjoyed in the 1970s and 1980s. We have 6 children ranging in age from 30 to 14, most of whom have worked at the restaurant throughout the years. Tim is a native of Gloucester and was familiar with the area and the restaurant location. As we close in on our 10th anniversary we hope that the people of Cape Ann have enjoyed our establishment as much as we have enjoyed meeting many new friends.
The keynote address at the luncheon will be delivered by former Gloucester Mayor and current Deputy Secretary for Housing and Economic Development Carolyn Kirk.

Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken Announces Partnership with Web and Mobile Citizen Reporting Platform
Gloucester will use SeeClickFix to improve quality of life and encourage civic participation
Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken today announced that the City of Gloucester has launched a new program that will allow residents to report quality-of-life issues and request municipal services through an online and mobile interface. Powered by SeeClickFix, the place-based reporting platform allows Gloucester residents to document neighborhood concerns and improvements, ranging from litter or flooding to damaged sidewalks and malfunctioning traffic signals.
āGloucester is proud to provide the community with an easy-to-use web tool that helps them access services and make positive changes in the community,ā said Mayor Romeo Theken.
With the online and mobile reporting platform, residents can report quality-of-life concerns through service request categories via the City of Gloucester website, mobile applications (e.g., iPhone and Android), a Facebook App, and the website SeeClickFix.com. The platform allows Gloucester residents to provide locations, descriptions, and photos of any issue, in real time. Once a resident submits a concern, the platform issues an alert that becomes public information available to any resident. This will allow the City of Gloucester to acknowledge a service request, route it to the proper department and update the request as needed, including after the matter has been resolved.
The platform also allows Gloucester residents to view, comment on, and vote to fix problems that are submitted by their neighbors. Citizens can even create their own āwatch areasā to receive notifications about any category of issues in their community and subsequently follow the progress of all related service requestsānot just the one they reported. Reports can be submitted and tracked from the City of Gloucester website directly (gloucester-ma.gov.) Residents will also find links to download SeeClickFix mobile applications on the Cityās website.
Update! Joey C- Obsessed With Purchasing A Kettle Charcoal Grill- Pulled The Trigger!!!
Update: I got a STOK 22.5 inch Charcoal Drum Grill for $129. The reasons I got this particular grill was that it had many more features than the Weber version including the thing I really wanted which was the Cast Iron cooking surface. To get a Weber with similar features it would have cost $198- $149 for the grill and $49 for the cast iron grate. Video review will be upcoming.
For Two Weeks Now Iāve Watched Countless Hours Of YouTube Grille Reviews and Read Hundreds of Amazon Grill Reviews.
Are you a charcoal grill person or gas or both?
Pretty sure Iāve got this thing locked down.
Hereās my curated list, whittled down after hours of research-

Great upgrade for the Weber Kettle
By The Buddy
I am a die hard Weber fan. I own 9 of their grills in various configurations, 2 of which are 22.5 inch charcoal grills. Imagine my surprise to find that another company makes an upgrade for the classic Kettle that is better than any offering from Weber themselves. This piece is exactly what the Kettle needs in every way. The cast iron is very solid and looks as if it will last as long as the grill. It is quite apparent to me that Stok did their research when designing this piece. The center opening is a perfect size for the large Weber Chimney starter to sit inside directly on the charcoal grate while brewing up coals. It is also the perfect size for dumping said charcoal. I feel the grate is the proper thickness, as anything thicker would add weight which most likely would bend the supports in the kettle. I also have not had any problems with the center shifting once it is put in place. Perfect fit, cast iron durability, and all for the price of 2 Weber steel grates, so what’s not to like? I did spend the extra for the Stok SGA1000 Insert Removal Tool and it was well worth the money IMO. Makes removing the center piece to add hot coals a breeze. If you love your Kettle like I do, treat yourself to this nice upgrade.

Strudelicious
One word. Ā Helmut’s.
While I called this postĀ Strudelicious,Ā I’ve actually never had the strudel here, but that by no means means that I can’t sing their praises! Ā First of all, I can do so because I have heard by MANY people that their strudel is delicious. Secondly, I can do so because my boys can’t get enough of their raspberry and strawberry cream croissants. Ā And….thirdly (and most importantly if I do say so myself) I have literally never had a better muffin in all of my life than their cranberry walnut muffins! Ā So there. Ā Get yourself down to the end of Bearskin Neck and grab a bite to eat SOON.
Not only is everything scrumptious, but the view off the back deck is pretty sweet too!
