Electricity Update 18 Brian and Diane O’Connor Are Going Solar

This just in froim Kevin, Brian and Diane’s Solar advisor-

Hi Joey,

Just a quick follow on Brian and Diane O’Connor’s Solar evaluation.
Brian and Diane’s home has qualified and they have decided to put rooftop solar on their home in Gloucester.  (Only 15% of homes in MA are eligible.)
Because of their home’s orientation to the sun and other factors, their entire cost will be covered by various federal, state and utility incentives.  In fact they will actually be making money over and above their cost.  And getting 90% of their electricity for free.
If anyone else would like to find out if their home qualifies, I just need their contact information and our techs will initially rate the home via satellite.  If it qualifies, we can up with a time for us to talk about how it all works. (About 90 mins.)
I am in the process of working with several other Gloucester residents and will keep you posted on their progress.
Many thanks for your continued support,
Kevin Prickett

The MIGRATING ROBINS HAVE RETURNED!

American Robin winter crabapple turdus migratorius, americanus ©kim Smith 2015American Robin and Crabapples

Right on schedule, the robins have returned to our East Gloucester neighborhood! They were seen flocking to the holly berries, crabapples and sumac. This morning it was bleak and drizzly; I hope to see them back in our neighborhood on a sunnier day!

Dear Readers, If you spot robins in your garden or neighborhood, please comment in the comment section and let us know when and where. If you get a good capture of a robin, or any songbird for that matter, please send to kimsmithdesigns@hotmail.com and I will be happy to share the photos here on GMG. Thank you so much!

Coconuts First Meal Post Surgery

Coconut rested peacefully after we finally decided to remove the hard plastic cone from her neck last night after several hours of whimpering caused by her frustration of being unable to get in a comfy position with it on. A friend hand delivered a soft inflatable cone after hearing about her discomfort, but that too was no go for Coconut.  As long as I am within reach and or in her sight she continues to rest comfortable by the fireplace and remains uninterested in the stiches in her right lower eyelid. Coconut seems more bothered by the hair shaved on her leg during surgery then her swollen eye. Dr. Ray Cahill continues to check in and warns to keep a close eye on her if she is without the protective cone. This afternoon I fixed her favorite lunch “Grilled Basil Chicken” with the hope that the smell of it cooking on the grill, would motivate her to leave her cozy spot by the fire and draw her over to my feet in the kitchen, where she usually sits when I’m cooking. My plan worked like a charm. Coconut perked right up and enjoyed every last piece.

Thank you for the kind messages wishing Coconut a speedy recovery!

Wake up by 9AM on Sunday to get the scoop on Matt Damon’s “Manchester By The Sea” movie filming

Aurelia Nelson

This just in from our friend Aurelia Nelson, host of “Curtain Up” Sundays at 9am on North Shore 104.9.

“This Sunday’s guest is Chris Palermo of Mass Movie Mavens. We will be talking about upcoming film projects happening on the North Shore, including the latest on “Manchester by the Sea” being produced by Matt Damon and now starring Casey Affleck.”

Worth getting up for — even if you stayed up late with John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band at the Larcom tomorrow night.  Don’t forget our local favorites, The Gary Backstrom Band is opening.  What better way to support them than to bop down the road to Beverly and revel in their opportunity to open for a multi-platinum recording star!

I Love when I learn something new from viewers of GMG Sista’s Dish…

Today I received this message from friend and GMG viewer Joanne Frontiero Joanne Frontiero Writes ~ My Mother and I worked for your father many years ago pulling the heads of the shrimp. Then they went into the secret room to the machine that could remove the eggs. I was in high school at the time and worked during a school vacation with Mom and my friend Jacquie!

Sista Felicia~ Thanks Joanne for sharing that. I remember the shrimp on the conveyer belt and remember all the women removing the heads, but I never knew there was a special machine to remove the eggs!
