Gloucester’s Meg Colby at game 7 Bruins game

Meg Colby won gold, silver and bronze at last summer’s special Olympics and on April 23, 2019 she was the Fan Banner Captain at game 7 of the Bruins.  Meg is such a great kid.

From Bruins! We are excited to have you in for Game 7 on Tuesday, April 23, as our Fan Banner Captain. The giant Bruins flag has been traditionally passed by fans before all Bruins playoff games since 2009. In past seasons, inspirational figures including Bruins legends, first responders, individuals affected by the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, and others have served as honorary captains to start the banner’s trip around TD Garden’s Loge section. This season the honor will go to various local heroes and champions who are deeply connected to the city and the greater New England community, including athletes from Special Olympics of Massachusetts.

 

Winter Classic

If you’ve read any of what I’ve written since joining GMG, you probably know that my boys play a lot of hockey and it is a big part of their childhoods as well as our lives.

School vacation week was certainly no different.  Thatcher’s team was entered into a four-day tournament sponsored by the Boston Bruins.  While they ultimately did not win the tournament, they were one of the finalists, and for that they were handsomely rewarded.  Medals, hats, backpacks, team photos, etc….and then, the awesome icing on the cake, tickets for the entire team, coaches, and one parent per child to the coveted Winter Classic.

Not only did they score tickets, but they were given front row seats. Granted, being only 8-years old and a bit vertically challenged, they had a difficult time seeing the action take place way out in the center of the Pat’s playing field….but awesome seats nonetheless.

Kudos to the Boston Bruins for once again rewarding these young, budding athletes and helping to create memories to last a lifetime.

“Here is the deal.    I have two tickets for next Monday’s Bruins – Tampa Bay Lightning game.  To raise money for the Gloucester Fisherman Athletic Association (http://www.thegfaa.org/) , I am putting together a silent auction exclusively for GoodMorningGloucester readers.  These are great seats in Loge Section 13.  The face on the tickets is $85 and the opening minimum is $170.  100% of the purchase price will be going to the GFAA (you can make the check out directly to the organization for tax purposes).  Send me an email with your best offer and I will let you know what the current high bid is.  My email is eroneil@yahoo.com.  I will also make arrangements for payment and pick up either in downtown Boston or downtown Gloucester.  The auction ends Thursday night at 6PM.  Good Luck and Thanks Much.”
