Lowell Peabody Represents In Greenville SC
Chatting with new friend Joel Robert Poinsett who introduced to the US the flower now known as the Poinsettia. Seems he brought it back from Mexico when he served as the Minister to Mexico in 1825. Seemed to think there was little hope of my ever keeping a Poinsettia alive…
Home town baseball team is the Greenville Drive, part of the Red Sox organization. Pictured is what I could see of their “Green Monster” in left field at Fluor Filed.

Foggy Morning
Took a beautiful walk out Eastern Point this morning with Bernadine Young. The fog gives everything such an ethereal look.
BTW, Bernadine has her incredibly beautiful home on the market, if anyone is looking for something really special. http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/27-Highland-St-Gloucester-MA-01930/56041316_zpid/

VIDEO: Allen Estes & Howard Blackburn on Wicked Tuna
Last night Allen Estes performed his hit, “Not With Ya Hands” about Gloucester’s hero Howard Blackburn at the Alchemy Bistro Wicked Tuna Challenge, which was filmed for next season’s Wicked Tuna by the Nat Geo crew. And our own intrepid Lisa Smith caught all the action for Cape Ann TV. We can’t show you everything we shot until early next year when Wicked Tuna Season 3 premieres, but we can show you Allen’s performance right now and you can catch a glimpse of the film crew at the end.
Best of all, you can see Allen Estes live with a new six-piece, all-star band on October 5th at the historic Larcom Theatre in Beverly. You’ll hear old favorites along with new music he hasn’t yet recorded. Allen — with his new band featuring multi-platinum guitarist David Brown with Fairport Convention founder Dave Mattacks on drums, Matt Leavenworth on fiddle, Steve Burke on keyboards and Wolf Ginandes on Bass — will have you on your feet!
This will be a night you won’t soon forget. Good seats are still available. Get them here.
To get you in the mood, watch Allen’s Souls of the Sea special tonight at 6:30 on Cape Ann TV Channel 12.
Alchemy Chef Scott Jensen wins Wicked Tuna Challenge at Alchemy last night

Last night Alchemy’s chef Scott Jensen narrowly defeated chef Steve Morlino of Boston’s Union Bar and Grille (where Chef Scott got his start) at the Alchemy Bistro Wicked Tuna Challenge, which was judged by the audience, who got to taste both dishes.
Before dinner, Alchemy’s mixologist Felicia Grossi, who won the Block Party’s first Ryan & Wood Cocktail Contest mixed up her Ryan & Wood signature cocktail for fishermen and guests aboard one of the Tuna boats.
And our son, John, got to pilot the boat. “That boat’s got a lot of tech!” says John.
The entire event was filmed for Wicked Tuna Season 3 and Lisa Smith caught all the action for Cape Ann TV. You’ll be able to see some of the event on Cape Ann TV before Wicked Tuna Season 3 premieres, and we’ll let you know when to catch it.
Dave Sag’s Blues Party @ The Rhumb Line, to Host Ricky “King” Russell this Thursday 9.12.2013 ~ 8:30 to 11:30
It’s back to the Three Stooges Trio this Thursday, so please welcome back that yeti of the guitar, Mr. Rikky “King” Russell. Borne and bread in and of the blues, this cat has been a fixture on the Boston scene for many decades and really knows how to twist your dials for maximum squirming. Even better, that amazing saxist and singer, that major teen idol Mr. Mario Perrett, will be on hand to help us all out. Unfortunately, our drummer under contract, Mr. Edd “Duodenum” Scheer is suffering from rupture of the deep and will be unable to join us, so, we have enlisted the aid of that swarthy bongo boy from the “Love Dogs”, Mr. “Downtown” Steve Brown. Known to change clothing in a phone booth, he’s set to fly in on time to rock the house. It’s gonna be a great nite of flying fur, bad jokes and misplaced observations. Czech it out! Hours 8:30 till 11:30.
But wait! There’s more! I’ll be hanging out at the same time same bat-channel location to witness the arrival of Ms. Mari Martin this Saturday nite at the Rhumb Line. My favorite vocalist, she’ll put a smile on your face and blisters on your feet.
She’s bringing the Low yo-yo band to prepare you for doomsday. That’s Mr. Bogus on guitar, John “Cameron” Swazey, on keys, Roger Broccolibanque, on pistons, and yours truly on base. Music starts at 9:30 when we start cranking that bumper jack between your head and the ceiling. Count on it!

And for all you folks into video poker and free jell-o:
I’ll be down at the Rose Baker Senior Center next Monday from 1 to 3 with the Good Old salty Jazz Band, cranking out all your favorite hits from the teens and twenties. It’s really a blast. Hope to see you there.
By the way, I’ve finally succumbed to the temptations of the web, and now have a Facebook page. Soon’ I’ll learn how to use it. Here is link:https://www.facebook.com/pages/Davesags-blues-party/1413082458915228
Please don’t clog it up with acne remedies, anti-gluten rants or conspiracy theories. Ockham’s Razor works for me. I got enough problems….
And again, thank you for your continued support. Without you we would be nothing. Live music is best!

The concert will feature the praise band Mixed Bag of Nuts (picture attached). Folks are encouraged to bring protein (canned peanut butter, tuna, or chicken), or healthy snacks for kids’ lunches.

Hi Joey,
I’m looking for local storytellers to share their Chicken Stories this Thursday the 12th at 7:30 at the Gloucester Writers Center. The deal is that folks come in and sign up to tell a 5 minute true story that is told not read. We also love having people who just come to listen, which is part of the fun! We have a great lineup, too.
All the best,
Maureen Aylward

Hi! I am having a show of my paintings opening tomorrow, September 11, from 5:30pm-7:00pm at Alchemy Restaurant, 3 Duncan St., in Gloucester. The show continues through October 7. I have painted in two series. One is inspired by Rebecca Siswick Graham, a local fellow artist and friend, who introduced me to the opening of the Ocean Alliance at the Paint factory. This re-kindled my love of all creatures of the sea, big and small and was the impetus to create an Aquatic Series as part of this show.
The other series in the show focuses on the wonderful Omo River Peoples of Southern Ethiopia who hand paint their bodies with different colored clays and adorn with flowers and plants. I feel the origin of all art forms comes from practices like these. Our ancestors did this and today as we apply makeup, prune ourselves and choose our clothes, we simulate what was once an organic process. This organic art lives on today in the Omo communities in Africa, where the cradle of humanity began.
Hope you all can swing by some time. Best wishes. Ramani
