WHAT:                This September, join Chef Frank McClelland as he hosts his annual Cowboy Barbecue Dinner at his home on Apple Street Farm. Every month, Chef prepares a themed dinner showcasing the freshest poultry, produce and eggs of the season. For the month of September, Chef has designed a four-course meal inspired by cowboy barbecue.

Guests will indulge in this special meal prepared by the chefs of L’Espalier and Sel de la Terre restaurants and are welcome to explore the beautiful grounds while enjoying cocktails and savory hors d’oeuvres. The Cowboy Barbecue Dinner menu includes:

SEASONAL COCKTAIL

First Course

2010 STAGS’ LEAP WINERY, CHARDONNAY, NAPA

Salad of pit-roasted heirloom tomato, shallot and pepper

with goat’s milk feta and sweet herb emulsion; coddled ASF egg

Second Course

2008 RIECINE, CHIANTI CLASSICO

Barbecue swordfish loin and stewed squid puttanesca

with eggplant and grilled corn off the cob

Third Course

2007 WATTLE CREEK, “THE TRIPLE PLAY”, RED WINE, MENDOCINO

Pit roasted Apple Street Farm pig in spiced vegetable ash rub

with sugar pumpkin and roma beans; salsa verde

Dessert

Quince rosemary tarte Tatin with bourbon and burnt orange ice cream

  1. I know! Seriously! We became members as we’re “foodies” thinking we would be able to enjoy these kinds of farm events – PRIOR to them posting the cost! They are apparently only for folks dripping in diamonds and misaligned values for placement of funds – because even this stogie-smoking, Apple Retina-coveting foodie can’t imagine placing my wallet down for this. I would rather feed 200+ starving children in some third-world country. (Rob says… or eat 175 donuts, mmm donuts.)
