Hi Joey
I know the HarborWalk is known more for its views of the beautiful sights and sounds of Gloucester’s historic seaport but there’s also some nice nature shots available. I got a photo of this monarch butterfly enjoying the flowers outside of the Gloucester House restaurant a couple of weeks ago when I was taking a friend from New York on a tour.
Maybe you can use it. Thanks. Love GMG. Keep up the great stories and photos. It’s my daily ocean fix when I’m not in Gloucester.

Thank you Fred–and my heartfelt thanks to Mayor Kirk, Sarah Garcia, Chris Muskopf, and Cambridge 7 for being so receptive to the idea of butterfly and habitat gardens along the harbor.
I love seeing this photo–yes it is a Monarch–and she is investigating the buds of the Marsh Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca). Because the buds are unopened, she is most likely depositing her eggs in and around the foliage and buds of the Marsh Milkweed!!

Our HarborWalk will be yielding rewards for visitors, residents, and downtown businesses for many years, and it’s open 24/7 year ’round.

wow! so eventually we should see some caterpillars and then a lime green chrysalis with golden spots and then some new monarchs. .. . .transformation! that’s the word for Gloucester, too! Thx for the beautiful photo!
