ALL PUBLIC BEACHES RE-OPENED

Based on preliminary results of samples taken at all of Gloucester’s public beaches on August 26, 2010, the Gloucester Health Department is lifting the swimming ban related to the elevated enterococci levels from samples taken August 25, 2010. Current enterococci levels are well below the limits set by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s bathing beach standards.
The following beaches have been re-opened to public swimming:
• Plum Cove Beach
• Wingaersheek Beach
• Good Harbor Beach
• Cressy’s Beach
• Pavilion Beach
• Half Moon Beach
• Niles Beach

Just heard this morning on Channel 5 news that Gloucester beaches are closed? City website still says they are reopened. ? If Channel 5 is reporting old, erroneous news or if indeed the water tests have once again come back positive.
