LIVE DRONE: GMG EXCLUSIVE! CAR CRASHES INTO POLE ON WASHINGTON ST.

Moments after the crash,  I get airborne and assess the situation form the air. Quickly, I could see the accident situation, cars involved, and the on-coming traffic backing up. If on call, I believe I could quickly asses similar situations for law enforcement, and the fire department. This would quickly, and in real time, give them the ability to predict traffic backups, and potential problems caused by these type of situations. In the case of a fire, I could in a matter of minutes, be airborne and show the potential threat of fire spreading, or additional breakouts form wind and fly away sparks. Just another day of flying above our fine city. (notice how the GPD and GFD have the situation, and the traffic, perfectly under control and flowing!)

Breaking News: Official Notice From the Office Of Mayor Kirk Regarding Halloween and Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy Update: City of Gloucester Urges Children’s Halloween Celebrations for this Sunday, October 28th

image

Friday, October 26, 2012

Gloucester, MA – Due to uncertainty surrounding the path of Hurricane Sandy and the potential severity of the storm in the community, Mayor Carolyn Kirk and the City of Gloucester announce that all residents are encouraged to celebrate Halloween “trick or treating” on Sunday, October 28th between the hours of 4pm and 6pm.

Weather forecasters are predicting favorable conditions on Sunday afternoon and early evening prior to the possible arrival of a storm on Monday and Tuesday. With Halloween falling on Wednesday, October 31, state and local public safety officials are concerned about the potential impacts of Sandy.

Depending on Sandy’s track, by Halloween, the city and residents may possibly be facing widespread power outages, downed limbs, and lingering rainfall.

“Every child in the city and their families want to enjoy a safe Halloween tradition without the concern, confusion, or fear that a favorite holiday will be jeopardized by the storm, so we are urging neighbors to have children celebrate early in good weather, without concern for public safety issues that might arise as a result of the storm,” said Mayor Kirk.

As an alternative to trick or treating, there is a Halloween Party on Sunday from 2pm to 5pm at the Rose Baker Senior Center on Rogers Street.  The party is free to all of Gloucester’s children between the ages of 1 and 8.  Children must be accompanied by an adult, and there will be crafts, games, face painting, freeze frame dancing, and prizes for best costumes.  The party is sponsored by the Gloucester Downtown Association.

The City made the decision to celebrate Halloween early in consultation with Gloucester public safety officials and after receiving an updated weather report from the National Weather Service. City officials have remained in contact with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency on Friday to ensure the most up-to-date information related to Hurricane Sandy.

Kathy Chapman reports

Hi Joey,

Just came back from scouting out the GP situation…here’s what I know…

The pile-driving crew just drove in a test piling and located the anchor points before the wind picked up and they had to stop. The pilings will be driven into the mud 10 feet and pounded in another (roughly) 2 feet before it’s all said and done. Work will resume again on Black Friday, if there are calm winds. All work will be done at high tide in a four-hour window. They will drive in 6 poles and then make a platform that attaches at the top.

Breaking News!!! Here’s the Official Scoop On The Birdseye Property From Sheree DeLorenzo

Where do you hear it first?  GMG, Natch!

Beach Front Gloucester Commercial LLC, a limited liability corporation formed for the purpose of acquiring the Bird’s Eye property located at 47-61 Commercial Street along with 10 Beach Court in Gloucester, Massachusetts, has entered into a Purchase and Sales agreement to acquire these properties. Sheree DeLorenzo, owner-operator of Cruiseport Gloucester LLC is the lead project manager for the Bird’s Eye project.

“Our intentions for the property are in keeping with mixed use along Gloucester’s working waterfront. We have no intentions of condos at this site. However, this location is ideal for a hotel, restaurant and conference / function facility,” said DeLorenzo.

“We have shown with Cruiseport that it is possible to have successful mixed use projects that contribute jobs and revenue to the city,” continued DeLorenzo.

Cruiseport Gloucester LLC currently consists of a function hall, restaurant, commercial marina, and is homeport to national and international cruise ships. Cruiseport currently employs approximately 150 people. Nine commercial fishing vessels regularly utilize the Cruiseport commercial docks along with the LNG service tugboat.

“We want to work with the neighborhood and the city of Gloucester to bring about the positive change that we know is possible for the beautiful city of Gloucester,” said DeLorenzo.

Mayor Carolyn Kirk has been briefed by DeLorenzo and expressed optimism about this latest news regarding Bird’s Eye. Said Kirk, “these plans are in keeping with the long-standing goal of the city to attract a downtown hotel, expand the tax base, generate revenue, and bring about additional vitality to Gloucester.”

Additional comment will be forthcoming after the closing date which is approximately 30 days from now.
