Surfers at daybreak
and so this is April
Meet Ed Emberley! Cape Ann Cinema & Stage will feature the documentary Creative Inspirations: Ed Emberley, Children’s Book Illustrator on Saturday, August 27th at 2PM. That special showing benefits Cape Ann Reads.
Here’s the link to the full Cape Ann Cinema & Stage Film Festival schedule with complete descriptions of the movies.
Cape Ann Reads is a community wide initiative celebrating art and literacy of children’s books from the 4 Cape Ann libraries — Gloucester Lyceum & Sawyer Free Public Library, Rockport Public Library, Manchester-By-The-Sea Public Library, and TOHP Burnham Library Essex– and many wonderful partners. An original picture book contest is part of this initiative. Thanks to Rob Newton and Ed Emberley for their support!
When out and about checking off your holiday to-do list, stop in to Passports. The food is always prepared and cooked to perfection, with extra generous helpings, and the ambiance is warm, comfy, and inviting.
Today I met my friend Catherine there and we had a luxuriously long chatty lunch. Despite the hours spent catching up, Laila, our beautiful waitress, never once made us feel anything less than entirely welcome. Catherine had the sumptuous cobb salad, topped with chicken salad, and I had their wonderfully delicious Caesar salad, with perfectly grilled shrimp. Even Passports regular coffee is rich and full flavored!
Happy Dining and Shopping Main Street!

I have never ever in my life been more ferociously attacked and eaten alive by mosquitoes as I did this morning capturing this shot. I drove past it at first but had to loop back. The water was so still, the tide was just right, the light just beginning to peek through.
The mosquitoes were insane I tell you. I’m still itching. Hit this one up larger. I love the reflection of the house and the clouds in the sky reflecting in the water. No brainer, had to get out of the truck and set up the shot, right?

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: the people putting up this scaffolding have to be of a special breed to be able to work at those heights. Like in the photo in the slideshow where there’s a guy holding a wooden beam, laying his own floor to walk on, with no netting around him yet… My respects! Be careful, be safe, and may God watch over you!

Sometimes when I bitch about having to get up at 3:45AM every morning for work I forget about being able to bring you scenes like this-
and then it all seems so worthwhile
