How Does This Good Egg Spend Her Birthday? Why Cleaning The Streets Of Gloucester, That’s How!

A little birdie Ed Collard told me it was a very special person’s birthday today.  Not any ordinary citizen but super dooper, over-the-top Gloucester helper and lover Donna Ardizzoni’s Birthday.

Now you may know Donna as the woman who organizes the One Hour at a Time Gang Saturday morning volunteer clean up crew or you may know her as a Board of Director on the Chamber of Commerce or you may know her from seeing pictures of her cleaning at the very end of the night after everyone enjoyed the Block Parties and she was right there with us making sure the streets were completely clean so that permitting for subsequent Block Parties would go smoothly.

But today was her birthday.  A day that is for one’s self.  And Donna one who is the ultimate doer as opposed to many out there that like to talk but never take action was out cleaning the streets of Gloucester with her group of One Hour At a Time Gangers- On Her Birthday.

So next time you see Donna- Give her a pat on the back and an atta girl.  She’s one hell of a good egg!

Happy Birthday Donna From Your Buddy Joey! First Drink Is On Me At Next Week’s Block Party!   Woot!

Joey’s tatoo

Rainy Sunday so working on a design. Using the lobster as a base I’ve added a few things. For one, the lobster should be cooked. And then to stir the controversy, I’ve added Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise. Bring out the Hellmann’s and bring out the best!

Or he could just copy this:

Turn Me Over!

In order to figure out where this rock is and find the super secret message you have to see Paul Frontiero’s post about his rock. Which is still out there. Or not. Who cares about his rock. Mine is cooler and has a secret message on the back.

This is the lovely breakfast I had at Twin Sisters after not finding Paul F’s rock.

Home fries, hash, with linguica and all sorts of other good stuff and two over very easy. Anadama toast. Hey, who you staring at, ever seen a grown man play with his breakfast?

A Request From 83 Year Old Friend Of GMG Ellie Cummings

thankyoupaint.jpg

Thank you for such a gracious visit yesterday afternoon.

I appreciate my GMG sticker and am proudly displaying it (of course).

As I confessed, at 83, I’m both an old AND longtime fan, but I’m not as
savvy as I would like to be in using the internet….so, would you be
able to help me find/see your photo of the codfish weathervane on
top of Trinity Church ?
In anticipation, and appreciation for all you’re doing in/for Gloucester,
Ellie Cummings
Sure Ellie, I’ll repost it here for you-

The H Bomb Drops On GMG- Heather Atwood Has Some Nice Things To Say

Chickity Check her latest blog post-

Lobster Rolls, Appellation Controllee, GMG

Some mornings the tea spills, the weeds rule, and the fog won’t lift, but there is a recipe for curing any bad start: a cruise through the blog GoodMorningGloucester.

Your water bill may be too high.  Your spot on the Rockport mooring wait-list too low, but there is no way you can feel anything but love for this part of the world once you’ve spent five minutes reading Joey Ciaramitaro’s take on Cape Ann, even if you’re reading from China.

To read the rest click here and discover her new blog- Food For Thought On The Gloucester Daily Times Website

Thanks for the kind words H 🙂

I would have to add that I have a great group of contributors and GMG community that make the blog what it is.  Without the people that check it out, write in to comment and give us encouragement it would just be a bunch of folks posting pictures and commenting on their own lives.  It’s the GMG community of people who write in and share similar experiences, likes and dislikes that make GMG special.  I’m just one part of it.  Oh and I’m also a lobster dealer, not a lobsterman.

I4C2 Beautification Review Video At The Site

Ed Collard walks us around the site and details the work that took place at the I4C2 beautification project May 22, 2010

About a third of the way into the video there is a very useful tip that could save you money!

Kudos to all that were involved

Bring Your Thinnings I4C2 Planting Day Sat May 22

Saturday is bring your thinnings To I4C2 and have them planted and help clean the joint up day.

Anyone that bitched about the way it looked at that site for years, now is your chance to do something about it.

Congratulations Scott Pytlik

Scott Pytlik who has been the web editor for the Gloucester Daily Times and was responsible for the roll out of the newly revamped GDT website is moving on to a video game PR with a company called Access Communications PR.  On Scott’s website- http://scottpytlik.com/ he writes-

What’s even more impressive is that gloucestertimes.com has once again won CNHI’s Web site of the Year award for newspapers under 12,000 circulation. The paper also took this honor last year, which was the first year the award was offered. Between our spot news coverage of the Eastern Ave. House Explosion in January of 2009 and the addition of our new Taste of the Times food videos, I guess we had more to offer year-over-year then any of the other 100 newspapers in our company that entered the contest. Because one of the many hats I wear is titled web editor, some people have been quick to congratulate me directly as if it’s solely my award. But really, winning Web site of the Year was only possible because we have one of the most dedicated and hardworking newsroom teams in all of CNHI.

Congrats Scott On Your New Job and thanks for all the help in implementing the blog section into the GDT Website!

From Scott’s website he also writes- In this May 2009 photo, Gloucester Daily Times editor Ray Lamont, right, kisses the 2008 Newspaper of the Year award while I kiss the Web site of the Year award. I’ll be kissing another silver cup soon when this year’s award comes.
