Dustin Pedroia

Why do you think Dustin hops in the air every time the pitcher is releasing the ball??

  1. To be ready to go in any direction when he comes down. Youk did this too. Probably still does, but since he’s in New York now, I don’t care.

  2. He does it so that he’s got a jump on any type of hit. Jumping has all of his muscles in his legs working and keeps him primed for any type of movement. Youk used to do it every pitch too. They were in sync with their hops almost every time…it was fun to watch.

  3. That’s funny Greg…obviously we are correct! 🙂 Did you ever notice that in his first couple of years with the Sox, Dustin used to take something out of his pocket when he got a base hit and would put it in his helmet once he got on base? It was like a little square 1″ x 1″ in size. He would never say what it was…and people did ask him. He doesn’t do it anymore I’ve noticed…
