Hi Joey, I captured this mirage on the horizon with a long lens last Monday.

Shot from Wonson’s Cove, it was probably about 20 to 35 miles out. You can see the Boston skyline on the right.

Normally there is just a sharp horizon line in that area. It was in the mid afternoon.

On the left the whale watch boat is on it’s way back into the harbor. –Len Burgess

Karen Ristuben reports!

Hello friends of Rocky Neck….

A very brief piece of EXCELLENT news, before the press release is issued!  After many hundreds of hours of volunteer work and amazing, unwavering support from our state legislators and city leaders, we have secured a Cultural Facilities grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council in the amount of $154,006. toward the acquisition of the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck!  A MAJOR accomplishment for our arts community, this grant will help us to reduce our mortgage debt, and will bring our vision of sustainability ever closer.  We cannot thank enough our volunteers, our community, our City and State leaders, and the MCC staff whose belief in our leadership and stewardship is clearly demonstrated through this award.

Way to go, Rocky Neck Art Colony and thank you all!!

Yours,

Karen

William Greenbaum ~ Etchings, Lithographs & Woodcuts

What is an "original" print? How can you tell an original from a reproduction? How are etchings and lithographs and woodcuts different from each other, and how can you tell one from the other? These are some of the questions William Greenbaum will be addressing. Mr. Greebaum will be bringing an artist’s carved woodblock and an old etching plate to help illustrate his talk about how various kinds of prints are made and how to tell the differences between them. "

William Greenbaum has been buying, selling and appraising original prints for exactly 50 years as of this year, 2013. While his business has always been called William Greenbaum Fine Prints, and his specialty has been etchings, lithographs, woodcuts and other original graphics, he has also helped clients with drawings, watercolors and occasional oil paintings. He first moved to Cape Ann in 1963.

The RAA is located at 12 Main Street, Rockport. You may contact them at 978.546.6604 or visit their website: www.rockportartassn.org
