Here’s a list of the live music (dozens of choices). The whole shebang goes from 6pm to midnight and is one of the best entertainment values of the year. You can download a map and complete schedule (in table format) here. Plus if the weather cooperates (which it just might) you can see the moon, Jupiter and its moons, and galaxies so far away they’ll convince you that you really are as insignificant as you thought — a great way to begin the new year. The Zip Line Kid and I are still talking about how much fun we had looking through the telescopes set up by the Gloucester Area Astronomy Club at Dock Sq.
Last year we were too late to get in to see Cape Ann Big band at Shalin Liu. We won’t make that mistake this year. Here’s a sample of what we missed:
Plenty of opportunities to get into the party spirit tonight (see complete live music listings here). Might be a good time to check out Mike O’Connell and his excellent band at Minglewood starting at 9pm.
My head is spinning at all the excellent music right here in our little town alone.
You have to hear The Four Legged Faithful
Tonight ~ The Rhumb Line 9:30
They are a young lively bluesgrass funkyphsycodelic fun band.
A real pleasure to hear and watch…… seriously.
I happened upon this band a while ago. Being so excited to fit in three bands in one night and hearing just about an hour of each. These young men blew my mind. After reviewing their music I got goosebumps all over again, as when I first heard them. They are totally a must see band.
Listen to the link below and you will see/hear exactly why.
All our favorite funk and soul tunes to get you grooving on a Saturday night along with some funked up originals, as well! Woohooo, time to party!

Michelinoceras and Anomalocaris, folded from a Japanese origami book I got for Christmas called “Dinosaurs 3” by Fumiaki Kawahata. Neither of these creatures is a dinosaur, but you get the point – the book has diagrams for how to fold creatures of which we only have fossils. These models are not very complicated, but there are others in the book that are more challenging. I hope to fold some of them soon and will post photos…

Good morning Joey
I am not sure you know about and will be covering the "Plunge for Pete" taking place tomorrow afternoon at Good Harbor Beach. It would be great to get some publicity for this awesome event. Over 80 people will be plunging into the water at 1PM to raise awareness of ALS in support of a wonderful 27 year old, Pete Frates from Beverly. Here’s the link to his page.

Happy New Year!
Celebrate the New Year, with a special sparkling wine or champagne
from Savour Wine and Cheese.
Ready to say Good-bye to 2012 and Hello to 2013!
Come to Savour Wine and Cheese, at 76 Prospect St. in Gloucester, to get just the right sparkler or champagne to ring in the new year.
We have unusual sparkling wines, from Italian Brachetto, with its shimmering notes of fresh raspberry to a sparkling Gruner Veltliner that shines with fresh vegetables (and can’t be found anywhere else in the area).
From vintage Cava to great Prosecco (check out the nod to Savour in the Boston Globe), we have it all, including the Adami Prosecco Bosco di Gica, mentioned in the Globe article.
I am also very proud to be offering a magnificent collection of fine Grower Champagnes, from the Thierry Theise portfolio. From Premier and Grand Crus to Blanc de Blancs and Roses, these wines are clean and fresh, with fine bubbles, and a subltle complexity found in much more expensive labels, all for $50.00 – $70.00.
We are also offering a few speciality food items we got in for Christmas at 50% off too (like the wonderful Chocolate covered figs, that sing with the Five Vitners Zinfandel or the 2000 Vintage Port)! So come in and see what you can find to make the end of this year and the beginning of the next something truly memorable.
All the best for great health and prosperity in the New Year.
Sincerely, Kathleen Erickson and Robert Morgan
