I was hoping you guys could help me spread the word about a fundraiser we are doing to
support the GFAA in their efforts to get Newell Stadium re-furbished. For every $10 donation
made to this effort you will be entered into a raffle to win breakfast for a year at George’s Coffee Shop.
One lucky winner will be entitled to full breakfast for two once a month for an entire year. A $10 donation
is a small favor to ask to help get this field done and one person gets an added bonus. Tickets are available
at the shop or through various GFAA members. Please spread the word and help us get this done,
Thanks, Dean

Ladyfish at The Naples Pier
As soon as we walked down the Naples pier for the first time, one of the guys yanked up a few ladyfish. They look like small smelt but only larger and with a few extra fins.
I figured he was going to toss them into his cooler but he instead threw one back and rebaited his other rod with it to use as bait to catch a larger fish.

Did You Know (Harp Seal Part 2)
I forgot to mention in my post yesterday about Harp seals, that this one was basking on a dock on Lobster Cove, and he was spotted by the eagle eyes of Martha Bentley of Annisquam. I had been wanting to get a shot of a harp seal ever since I had seen one on the ice behind Richdale’s one day when I didn’t have my camera with me. I was really thrilled to see this one so close up, and grateful to Martha for spotting him, coming to tell me about him, and going with me to check him out.

Episode #3 of the Gourmoo Cook Off………the Entree Round
Hi friends. Here’s episode three of the Gourmoo cook off that I participated in last December. As you will see the competition was tough but I was proud of my dish, even though I did under cook the beautiful fish that Steve Connolly Seafood generously shipped out there for me. But who wins this round? You have to watch to find out!
Will be posting the next round tomorrow or Thursday, along with a generous giveaway from Lactaid Milk…….stay tuned!

Hi,
> I found your rock while leaving good harbor with my dog on Sunday. Great rock! Do you want it back??
My reply back to Baba:
Hi Baba!
I’m A little “Strange”. Just ask Joey! When The mood hits I’ll draw on a rock where I’m at and leave it and see if anyone will respond. So, I thank you for responding. You can keep it if you like, if not! throw it back in the ocean for another few hundred years. 🙂 Do what you wish with it! I don’t need it back. I always hope someone will like the drawing. If not oh well. Take it as, goodluck? It may not be Megamillions but…..
Thanks again for the reply!

Chickity Check It! Abby Ytzen’s Biomes Guidebook
From Abby’s Site–
Hello.
I am a hard working creative person from the midwest with a passion for design. As a designer and illustrator my work has a distinctive element of playful cleverness. I have a strong desire to connect art to the wider world around me and to use my skills as a designer to create work that is not only beautiful but will have a lasting impact on the hearts and minds of people. I believe design is a powerful tool in the language of our culture. As artists and designers we have a responsibility to the integrity of our visual influence. I believe good design communicates truth and draws people together in community.
One of Abby’s many projects was a cool Biomes Guidebook which she prides herself on because she feels that it speaks to young children as well as highly educated people that are familiar with Biomes. You can even check it out free.
Biomes Guildbook
Because education was a main goal of this exhibit, I created a 50 page guidebook with a poster pull out to accompany the biome illustration. Creating another level of depth, this guidebook contains detailed information about biomes and the animals that inhabit them, including conservation status information. As a summation of my research, this guidebook provides the visual and informational link both within my exhibit as well as across the art and science disciplines.
